The 51st State

Here is my idea then. It's a hypothetical alternate reality where the British Isles are split into different states of the USA. Is this a good idea to pursue?

At the moment I know that there isn't much to make it hugely different from the British Isles map (accept for geographical accuracy). But that is were you guys come in. I am very open to ideas as to how to make this map unique. Ports? Airfields? Giant statues of George?

As you can see the legend holds information on what the 6 different states of Britain are but not much else. I will welcome discussion on continent bonuses later in development.

I am looking for a bit of feedback from you guys as to where to place mountains and forests to break it up a bit.

The name of the map is also very much open to discussion as are county names and borders. At the moment there are 49 counties (territories).

Should I include Ireland as the 57th state?

So to summarize here are your discussion points:

1. Is this idea worth my time?
2. How can I make this map unique?
3. Where could possible sites be for mountains and forests?
4. What would be a cool name for the map?
5. Do you think the counties are ok?
6. Should I include Ireland as the 57th state?

Don't like the theme.

Map is OK though. I would advise you instead to consider revamping the existing british isles map than this.

I agree... ohh hold on, I'm making the map. I too am from Britain! whoop! Why can't you suspend your over zealous patriotism for just a moment and see the idea for what it is. I am no more in favor of the US's imperial expansionism than you are but this is really just a bit of fun.

On that note though the idea did begin as a replacement for the somewhat average GB map but I figured I would get no support from the people who took that map through the foundry process and I'm not out to make enemies with this work. I like to see it as a compliment to the British Isles map, much like USApocalypse is to USA.

Please reconsider your view on the theme.

The british isles map is acctually one of the most loved AND most played maps on conquerclub. I personally dont rate it 2 highely btu its definetly not average. As for USapoco that is one of my favourites but its one of the least palyed maps on CC and doesnt really compliment the USA map.

the continents on this version will definitely need a lot more work, that orangeish thingy is ridiculous, has anyone counted the borders?

Oh, and I think the theme sucks, too. Maybe if we could add a humourous touch to it... I mean, "Not Mexico", "Corn", "Cows", "Cars", small things CAN make a difference.

I am not British, but I am European and I find this a bit offensive as well. I cannot stomach the idea of Britain being divided into US states. :)

Why don't you rename the map Britannia and make a British map without Ireland? Not a revamp but a new map with different features from the existing British Isles map which frankly is very inaccurate.

Hate the idea - love the accuracy...

If you could add Ireland in - and get some decent areas on that then this would be a worthy replacement to the ambombination to the current British Isles...

However - if you want to turn it into a seperate standalone map...

Then the Theme sucks - altho I'm sure yanks will love it - so I would change it for something else...

Perhaps a "GBmageddon" or something would be quite cool... but you'll have to think about the theme completely...

Noted but I'm not expecting the map to be quenched tomorrow.

It seems I am getting a good bit more support for a British Isles remake than I anticipated. I'll let the pole run as it stands and take it from there.

Thanks guys. Keep the comments coming.

I'd play it now. Love the theme, the United States should have done this years ago. =D>

On quick glance, the map actually seems to be more accurate than the current british isles map -- which I like. However the theme of the "51st state" might be offensive

Well, it is up to the inhabitants on how they want to be divided up. If one of their cities wanted to be its own state they probably have the population to do it.

If they were smart they'd want to be as many states as possible so they have more votes, but they're British... so...

I think we need that 1vs3 feature implemented so I can singlehandedly defeat three of you English folk. Anyway, getting away from my increasingly apparent distaste for the British, I'm not thinking this map is going anywhere in its current state.

Yes. The Yankees have always let people mind their own business territorial wise... like back in 1861...

I don't really see how the "Statehood" concept plays into the actual map

If you want to include Britain into a map, I would suggest the 100 years War (if it hasn't been done already)

England, the lands that would become France, and more... Richard the Lion Hearted, John Lackland, the battle of Agincourt, Joan of Arc... there has to be several snapshots of this that would make for excellent maps...
