Incidentally, looking back, it was the best half year of my life. Life's good when there's no hanging guilt, and I wind up feeling very guilty because of this kind of thing.

Fact is, if you're a Christian, evidence indicates that masturbation is wrong. If you're an atheist, it's fine, because it doesn't hurt anyone and there's no god who knows what you do alone in your room anyways.

If you want to start another atheist vs. theist thread, go ahead, but that's not what this topic is about.

The point I have made is that on Christian grounds, masturbation is wrong. Nothing more.

Quite frankly, masturbation is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, during and after. If you feel a hanging guilt after for whatever reason, then do not masturbate, as it makes the experience un-enjoyable all-in-all. I feel no hanging guilt before, during and after masturbation and I find the whole experience to, generally, be an enjoyable one. Your religion should not dictate whether or not you're going to be able or allowed to beat one off every now and then, just whether or not you enjoy the whole of the experience.

Well then you have to teach and train yourself to learn how to abstain from masturbation. You have to say to yourself "Is this few minutes of pleasure worth the guilt and the insult to my god?"

Actually, I would like to know this too... All you're doing is having your little gatherings in your own, PRIVATE forum and discussing common points of interest (in this case, it's your religion). You come into the public forums and give your biased point of view, but you state that it is in fact biased and it will not work for everybody. I, personally, as a hardcore atheist, have no problem with that. You are simply exercising your rights in a civilized manner. I see no problems with that.

well, according to the laws of nature, the reason orgasm is so enjoyable is because it is necessary to procreate. if reaching orgasm was painful, uncomfortable, or didn't feel THAT good at all, then why would we bother to procreate? only a few would, and then the population would shrink
