Post by tucky12345 »

at the start, is it better to make some strong areas in good positions better defended?

u really need to add another option. there are a ton of factors that can affect ur decision on where to deploy:

-what u get in the drop
-if u go first or second
-what map

there ar more but i just listed ones of the top of my head. pretty much the first adn second one i listed above would be the 2 strongest factors that affect my deployment, but if i really had to choose, i would go wilth establishing a strong point on the map, if say i had a good chance of taking an early bonus or keeping my oppenent from getting one.

Time to retire this much loved sig of mine with a new clan.

One strong point from which you can make a choice of attack routes is the best. However that requires an obscenely lucky drop; usually you are forced to consolidate in at least two places or abandon many of your armies.

i have tried both methods but because i am extremely unlucky sometimes, i had a 9 attacking a 4 and they got it down to 5 vs 4 before i stopped...twice!
therefore i dont know which is better

I would recommend building up on a few strong points. Most of the time, just having three armies at one place can at least keep opponents at bay, even though it's what everyone starts with.

And most of the time, you just have to pick the lesser of two evils, or the greater of two goods. Do you want to try and launch a mass attack from Australia after giving up the rest of your armies? Or would you rather stay solid all around, not letting others get your countries, but at the same time, spreading yourself out so that you're vulnerable as soon as anyone strong comes along.

The problem I find with spreading out territories, is that often, about halfway through the game, my territories are just way spread out all over the board. A few turns later, elimination. Staying strong at a few points is the way to ensure safety. Then again, they don't call it Risk for nothing.
