Advance attack button?

Post by Thimble »

I'd love the option to have an "advance attack" button where the application assumes that i'll transfer all my attacking armies to a conquered territory.

I could save time and play even more games!

do you have a really slow internet connection or something?

It inly takes a few seconds to advance armies. I don't see how it would make a huge difference unless you were involved in hundreds of battles at a time

no. i play at work, so the less time it takes me to make my moves, the less chance i'll get spotted. :)

Auto Attack and Advance

Post by Bertros Bertros »

Hey

I should probably check to see if someone else has already suggested this but you know how it is....

It would be cool to have a third attack option, auto attack and advance which would automatically attack until successful and then adavnce all units bar one to the conquered territory.

This is quite a common requirement and would save a postback for the advance stage, speeding it up for the player and reducing server load...

Cheers

So if say you was in one of those stupid ga,mes with like 10,000 vs 10,000 and you DONT want to advance you have to use the normal attack...

my opinion on this is no. There is already enough to think about when attack not to mention what button to press :?

No my intention was for there to be 3 buttons; 'Attack', 'Auto-Attack' and 'Auto-Attack and Advance'.

That way when 'mopping up' towards the end of a game things could be speeded up greatly.

would clutter things up too much.

I agree. It takes very little effort to attack and then advance rather than troubling the important people with this. Not the best idea i've ever seen

It would be kind of nice for those of us that have very slow internet.

Auto-Advance Button

Post by treefiddy »

Suggestion Idea: Add a button similar to the "Team Note" or "Note to Self" that says "Auto-Advance All"

Specifics: When using either Attack or Auto-Attack, with this button checked, it will automatically advance all your armies upon a successful takeover. Button will be defaulted to "off"

Why it is needed: When being used, it would be one less page load per territory. This would speed up the game just a tad, and lower the overall bandwidth usage for the site since it would mean for less page loads when people use it.

Example:

I check the "Auto-Advance" button, then click Auto-Attack in a 15v1 situation from Brazil to North Africa. I lose 3 times (as normal :D), then win. Now I have 11 armies in the North Africa, and only 1 in Brazil.

This is just personal preference, but I would never use it, since my usual strategy involves keeping no less than 2 armies on any territory.

Yeah, but like the current Auto-Attack button, it will always be personal preference to use it or not. :D

Either way though, when you're coming to the very end of the game (let's say an Escalating game), and you're getting 50 armies for your turn-in, and your only opponent left has 25 armies, do you still leave 2 armies per territory? :)

well what if its a situation where u attack one country to the south, then had to attack a country to the north andu are the country in the middle between the 2? if u accidently forgot to take off auto advance and ended up advancing south with no way to attack that north country. it just messes people up, and CC does not need anymore ways to make mistakes with the accidental ending attaks too early or forts too early.

and in an esc situation where the cash ins are like 40-50 each, u cant afford to give the guy another turn to get a card or cash a card.

so quite plainly this idea is stupid and shoud be rejected.

I don't think this is necessary as far as speeding the game up goes. Is it really that slow to have to advance your armies manually?

As far as the bandwidth goes, I'll leave that to the tech experts to analyze.

Your entire arguement against this shows that you did not fully read the suggestion.

treefiddy wrote:Button will be defaulted to "off"

By the way, it's just as easy to accidentally hit "Advance" after the new page loads with it's defaulted max armies as it would be to accidentally click the auto-advance button. So your arguement truely holds no water.

My vision is that it would be setup exactly like the "Note to Self" checkbox, where it's always off, and you have to check it to use it. Once you send yourself the note, it's turned off again. This would mean you'd have to click the checkbox everytime you wanted to use it.

Sometimes the site just runs slow. Either it's my internet, or it's the site itself. If it's the site itself, implementing something that could lower the overall bandwidth usage can't be a bad thing. :)

Would you need to check the box before each turn

Yes, same number of clicks if you have instant page loads.

I think it is an excellent idea. However it is completely unnecessary so would be low priority. Well done tree.

Why don't you manually click the "advance" button.. are you that lazy?
It's automatically at max, so you don't have to do anything but push the button.

I think it's pretty safe to say lack will reject this, because he has said before he doesn't want too much stuff on the screen as it will clutter it up.

Good idea, but honestly, not needed!

It's not just a suggestion of laziness (because like I said, it's the same amount of clicks), it's a suggestion to cut down on the amount of times the game needs to load itself.

Being that the server seems to be running slower lately, anything to cut back on usage is a good thing in my eyes.

like i said before horrible idea, this cehck box would be redundant. u stil have to click the god damn check box to turn it on each turn which is the same as the advance button. the game page does not need anymore stuff cluttering it up.

To solve the mistake factor, how about an "Auto-attack and Auto-Advance" button? This way, you would always know whether or not you're going to advance all of your armies.
