Really, you know exactly what the next cash-in value is, so if they cost you your life you should have seen it coming
yeah I agree with gibbom, you know whats coming. How many esc. games have you played??
I do see it coming but i think it relies on more luck than skill. Say the next value is 100 and u have 4 cards but no set, if the other guy has 3 cards and a set, the other guy will definitely win!!!
We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces, singing
escalating is brilliant, just sit back and relax and build up all ove the place. when the time is right it is like dominoes, they all just topple and you win the points.
cash in for 100!! then you are not playing correctly. You need to start removing your opponents at around 25 and not the easy opponents but the right card opponents. then you get another cash in. It takes skill to remove them in the correct order and win!! and stratigy is different between terminator and standard. Standard you got to be the last standing. terminator, Get the points when you can.

Well if it is all luck then explain why the only people consistently above 3000 points, who predominantly play singles, concentrate on escalating games
Played correctly Escalating, singles, sequential (not freestyle, which is not a fair game) is one of the most skillful forms of the game. (flat rate being probably the least)
Winning the game can and does involve luck; hitting a set with only 3 cards certainly gives you a helping-hand in some situations and when the dominoes begin to topple the dice can also be a good friend.
However, in my opinion, 'Lucky' dice play less of a role in winning than in other forms and consistent victory is based upon finding the correct philosophy of war. (i am still searching for that)
The strategy/philosophy is decided upon with reference to your opponents skill level and style of play. To some extent, strategy is also dictated by starting position (as much as bonus's are reviled as a key factor, their easy acquisition can be useful and it may alter the manner of troop deployment!) but again starting set-up is less key than in other forms.
In short and in my opinion: singles, escalator is based more upon raw skill than any other; the knowledge that large forces are imminent dictates a certain discipline where-by luck is minimised.
Of course the win ratio of those at the top of the Trips game would seem to make a mockery of this statement and I am sure Mr Rocket will wax lyrical on it's superiority (He won't find too much opposition from me.) but taken as a whole and given the requirement of beating 5 other 'teams' and not only 1, the ability to gain points and not lose them reflects a greater achievement to me.
Anyway.... that bored the hell out of me! if you got to the end, thanks and well done.
Escalating, singles, sequential, Classic = the dog's bollocks.
Also, as a general tip for all inexperienced players reading, if I am holding Australia, please do not expend 10 of your men and 10 of mine, trying to break my bloody bonus! That is all.

I'll do it if I'm wiping you out and I want your cards. Otherwise, I'll just take someone else out and ramp up the card multiplier before taking you out. All in the same turn.
Like someone else said, it's all about taking out the right opponent, not the strongest, not the weakest, the one with the right cards.
