freestyle teams and simultaneous moves

Post by Dirk Dastardly »

Ok, an opponent who will remain nameless got all over me because my teammate started his turn while mine was going. My opponent was inscensed and he threatened to add me to his ignore list. I didn't see the problem.

On the other hand, I once played a freestyle game where my opponents were RL friends, and took every single turn together, making them far more effective than me and my opponent (whom I had never met, and had no outside means of communicating/scheduling).

I just wanted to know what other people thought about this.

Its perfectly fair. If people want to spend all the time to plan that then Its perfectly fair.

I guess I should've checked my opponent's negative feedback - more than half of it is from people he's accused of cheating for doing the same thing. Looks like I'll be getting my first negative feedback :? :(

Its perfectly fine. That is what teamwork is for, work together. Sometimes that decides between winning and losing.

nice to see the mix of responses, and some people agree with me

I just worry when it happens every turn because it makes me wonder if it's one person, or two people sitting right next to each other, which might as well be one person - but I guess this is a separate issue and handled independently

oh yeah, on the guesses -

ya, if you look all extratabasco plays is freestyle tripples, which is halarius because he doesn't want anyone to take their turns at the same time!

i havn't looked but i bet if you search flame wars he is in there about a million times.

If you don't like simultaneous turns, there is a simple solution: "sequential"

Good grief.

If I ever play simultaneous FreeStyle...I would have it no other way. That is just the nature of the beast, and it does take some team planning to be able to do it successfully. Playing simultaneously can be real fun as a team if they can all get together at the same time. But I have opted, for the most part, to refrain from FreeStyle games. I believe that Sequential game play to be more enjoyable as it is more like playing a real board game of Risk. And if you don't approve with FreeStyle games...then don't play them! (this goes especially to xtratabasco...hehe!)

Its perfectly legal and a good tactic. It does suck when people play in the same room and they make all their moves one fatal swoop, but as long as its team play and they have no unannounced partnerships then its just the nature of the game. just because you can't play with your team mate real time doesn't mean you shouldn't force it on others. Its not like its against the rules or anything, and as stringybeany said, if you don't like it, don't play freestyle.

Its perfectly legal, although a bit cheap in my opinion, it puts players who don't know their partners at quite a great disadvantage but.. what can you do?

There's not much point in posting names of those who do it, there's an awful lot. No joke, knowing the truth one of those is yosevuk...
