It IS awesome. It IS. It really bugs me how people, pretty much my age and older, largely won't even give the new trilogy a chance simply because it's not exactly like their childhood raison d'etre. Yes, Episode I had certain annoying elements, if you're an intolerant and hateful person. Yes, Episode II was one of the worst movies ever made, taking into account every hicksploitation that 1970s Georgia could churn out. But Episode III was AWESOME. Amen.

the high point of star wars for me is that the original trilogy was funny, not that it was intended to be, but it was. the new ones are more about the action, which is ok, but I gotta say that the old ones out rank the new ones in my book.

well true, but i havent seen the older trilogy in a long time (Like since i was five) but then i watched it as much as i could, but i have forgotten a lot of it. So for all i know they might be better than the new trilogy. Although i prefer lego star wars over all. Its really funny

attack of the clones- 0 i vote a new hope; it is the first one i ever watched, and i dont really remember the other ones (i have watched all of them though)
I = Ruined by Jar Jar
II = Ruined by Anakin love scenes.
III = Personal Favourite
IV = Great at the time, starting to look abit dated
V = Second for me.
VI = Ruined by ewoks.
Funny how the ENTIRE trilogy is about one man's rise to ultimate power, only to fall within the last 5 minutes of VI.
It is really hard to rank them as both trilogies are so far apart time wise.
You really have to see the movies at the time of their genre to make a decision. As I am one who had seen all the movies at the time of their genre, this is how I vote them:
Phantom-blows monkeypoop (unless you are a 10 year old)
Clones-blows
Sith-Good until the "DarthVader, arise!" scene
Hope-Good all around
Empire-absolute genius
Jedi-Good beginning, but did we really need to blow up a DeathStar again?
So I would rank these movies as such:
Empire Hope
Sith
Jedi
Clones
Phantom
Now ranking each trilogy separately:
Empire
Hope
Jedi
Sith
Clones
Phantom
And I guess if I imagine that I had seen the Second set of trilogies first, my vote would probably hover around making Sith either first or second, because of action and special effects...but not alone does a movie make.
I ranked Sith over Jedi because the action in Sith was better and darker.
I ranked Hope over Sith because Hope brought a fresh idea to the masses at the time...we would spend all day and evening in the movie theaters and watch the movies over and over, and then come back the next weekend and do it all over again! I mean, how many of us can lip sink the entire New Hope script?
Empire is definitely #1 in my book. The action was well balanced with the drama, and I will never forget how I felt when Lando betrayed Han! And don't forget the ending! Wow! Can't wait for the third movie! Then it came...and I wasn't all that impressed by it. I mean...Teddy Bear suits? Come on, people... (Yub, Yub?)
