my brother brought up a good point yesterday: ironically many liberals believe that global warming exists and want to stop it to save the earth. the liberals want to keep things the way they are, kinda like conservatives

it is just about as ironic as the fact that most Conserv atives dont really try to conserve the planet.

Well, the status quo presently involves pumping greenhouse gases at mind-blowing levels into the atmospehere. Libs (and conservatives who DON'T see the value in a global desert) want to change that status quo.

But do you agree we've had an adverse effect on the situation?

that's why all i said was "that's debatable" if it WAS the point of the thread, I would have probably posted much much more.

So is gravity... doesn't mean it isn't true. Scientifically, "theory" isn't a pejorative as far as fact goes. Besides, what's wrong with evolution? My Bio teacher was Christian and believed in Darwin's findings...

Right, which is why if we do nothing, in 100 years the earth could be 6.5˚C hotter... Hotter than it has been since the time before the dinosaurs... Here is a model that SHOWS how much we're effecting the climate.
This one is a bit better, I think.

yes. . . but there are theories that are just theories because of certain assholes that have decided to debate them with nonexistant evidence

No, gravity IS a law.
WTH, screw Wikipedia. One article they say it's Newton's
Theory of Universal Gravitation, another it's his
Law of Universal Gravitation.
Regardless, Einstein's special relativity is also used, and that's a theory. The point is that, in science, "theory" and fact often go hand in hand.

But that point is inane to begin with, as spurgistan pointed out. So you just want this thread to die?

So just because it's a prediction means it's suddenly invalid?

Even when presented with information gathered by many many many experts and is currently being used by several governments.

Why do you think I rarely use wikipedia?
As for theories, they are based off of some fact, with the rest filled in with theories, making theories not 100% fact. While Laws have all the holes filled in with facts (Law of Gravity, etc...).
