I apologise to veterans - I was not there, being the next generation down the line I hope this site acts as a point where we will not forget the part Malta played in defeating Axis powers during 1940-43.

Rommel's aim was to capture the oil fields to the east. This would have given Germany unlimited reserves of fuel oil & derivatives. From this base Rommel could have linked up with the German offensive in Russia, struck out towards India & joined up with Japanese forces. Also a southern front on Russian oil fields would have starved Russia in the eastern front of fuel oil & set up a strong base to attack Russia.
Malta was the key in stopping Germany resupplying Rommel. On this perhaps depended the outcome of the War.

Not only was the Island heavily bombed but most of this bombing was concentrated in small areas such as the Harbour & RAF airfields.

i know that!!! But Malta was used to attck North Afirca and also the sea and airbourne atatcks on Sciliy and then Italy!!

ok then make a mak of malta plus alll of the teratories it bombed as kind of little islands all conected to malta

or a north afica and italian front wth malta able to bombard but not conquire a bunch of terratories it bombed

What's this topic about? It seems you want a map on Malta, but there is one being made already... then you say that you already knew that and that malta was used to attack africa and italy, so what exactly is your map idea about?

Malta was the head of Air and Sea for the mediterran and was the most important base in the world!!

I have actually been in the office of Ezinhower!!! ITs about 300 ft underground..Amazing stuff!!!

I think that quert could do this and continue on his WW2 theme, or there are a few others who would do a good job at it. I like the idea
