eh i am doing pretty well, have had all kinds of computer problems...apparently the commy depo isnt handing out good ones lately, so im losing ground in the post count.

I dont really know enough about the current british political system to be able argue that your wrong about their being a difference between the two. However, if that is the case and you guys are becoming more like the americans in that sense...thats probably not a great thing in the long run, since really a lot of times people in these parts seem to be voting for pretty similar things, just under different premises....and the premises are coming closer together in some senses.

I actually think your going to find a lot of this occuring in some of the more developed nations in the next few decades. Id be tempted to make a folk theory that claims what we are seeing from former hegemonic powers is a necessary outcome of destablizing processes from globalization.

I personally think Britain will economically collapse, for the same reasons as the market crash in the USA that lead to the depression.

i have a bit of hard time believing that britian will collapse for a couple of reasons, though i do believe there could certianly be some pretty hard times ahead. Although i would assume britain is probably already quite service oriented in their economy (my incredible us bias just exudes here i know) they will probably have to go through some restructring, like most other developed nations as a result of LDN's just being more economically competitive in those sectors.

Still britain does have all the economic capacity/infrastructure to spur innovation and development. Likewise, they are on all the important international groups to make sure they can be maintained in a relatively stable state. There may be a need to be more homogonized to the European state as a whole, but regionality figures to be the thing to do the way things work now anyway.

I haven't got a great deal of problems with eastern europe, I just think it would be beneficial to the western european nations not to be contracted into subsidising them.

I mean, with certain commonwealth countries, I can understand Britain helping out from time-time, but eastern european nations have not directly benefited nor aided Britain in any way, shape or form...

I really only begin to resent a nation if it is becoming a burdeon on my nations treasury...which happens to be a great deal.

Not a huge Tony fan, but i prefered Blair to Brown. At least Blair had the courage of his convictions whereas Brown is more New New Labour ie a total chameleon.
Still, prob. the greatest chancellor since Lloyd George, so he ain't done too badly!
