How long have you been in CC?

Post by Itrade »

How long have you been in CC and how much longer are you planning to stay? Also, how'd you find your way here?

I've been here since day two (or three). I followed a wikipedia link to this site after reading an article about Risk and liked it better than all the other sites that were linked there. Later on I figured that Lack was breaking wikipedia rules by putting that link up there, so that makes him a REBEL. Fight the power, eh?

I've been playing pretty much non-stop with my maximum of 4 (used to be 10 but then the site's population increased) games until I got invited to test out speed games by Lack and got rewarded with a month of free premium for my input. But Lack accidentally gave me a free year and when I told him about it he said I could keep it.

I've only taken a break once, and that was when my computer decided to let me access every single site on the internet except CC (and Qwantz, for some odd reason) and I ended up deadbeating my way out of Sgt 1st Class all the way down to my current rank.

My favorite achievement so far was playing every single map as a six-player freestyle escalating unlimited in celebration of my free premium. Perhaps sometime I'll do the same with all the new maps and 8 players, but I'm still recovering from the last time so I'm unlikely to try anything that extreme anytime soon.

My highest rank was Captain and the highest ranked player that I've played against (And beaten :D ) was Blitzaholic. My advice for reaching high scores? Stay away from speed games. They're addictive and fun and one of the best ways to pass the time on the internet but they suck your score like the vacuum of space on a CC-shaped spacecraft. Also, master a map that's difficult to get the hang of and stick to that. I would recommend AoM but it's becoming more common now so find your own map and make it yours.

Hmm, looking back perhaps I should have titled this "Your CC life story", but I'm too lazy to scroll up the page to change that, so there you go.

I've only ben on CC for a short amount of time, (as of this posting I haven't even completed my 20th game), been playing "Risk" for only around threee months and I'm loving it. I feel like I missed out on a huge part of my life not playing this as a child (stupid chess board).

I read about CC while playing a "Speed" game on a different site. It was in some forum post and I googled conquerclub. I tried to activate a membership that day but failed to realize the activation email was flagged as junk mail by my email server. It took me another month or so before I actually joined.

I am still only a freemium member mainly because I knonw if I get a premium membereship I will not leave my computer. I'll be playing here as long as the community will have me and I'll be converting as many "friends" as I can to the site.

it seems i've been here forever but in fact it hasn't even been a year.
i've been playing risk (the cardboard version) for over 10 years and i've always dreamed of a site that offers me the chance to play this game online. i found about CC from some friends on another game site and joined the same day.
i'm proud of 3 things:
1. getting rid of terminator 1v1 games.
2. getting 4 maps quenched.
3. getting to major.

i don't know how much i'll stay here. if i like a game and if i enjoy the community it can be years. (i've been playing another online game for 5 years and another one for 4 years so yes i can commit for a long time)

too long...
I remember when the mafia game happened once a year when andy had the time. A time when we have less than a quarter off the maps we do now.
I remember a time before twill, a time before feedback :-({|=

*wanders off feeling nostalgic*

Anyway, i think im here for a good long time still to come. And i first came upon this place by accident, and deadbeated my first game

Does anyone have any idea what might have caused the every-site-except-CC (and-qwantz-for-some-odd-reason) bug?

I think I've been here about 16 months. never knowingly deadbeated, and gone from 899 to 1934 points in that time, and still never played the actual non salamander software associated board game based on this site. ;)

Probably one of your providers servers blowing up that connected to that. though I could have netsplit logic on the brain.
