Hey Emmdizzle,

Congrats for making conqueror. I don't hate the player. I respect your ingenuity and ambition. I fault CC for failing to provide an alternative way to gain recognition by other means.

I hope you accept my doubs Berlin challenge. I sent you password in PM. We are both brigs so if you pick a low ranked teammate our scores will be even.

Game 7356659

If you'd rather play a different map, please send me an invite.
If you are busy at the moment I understand - you must be flooded with similar challenges.

Cheers,

FarangDemon

he's "on vacation". He hasn't played a game since he became conqueror besides finishing up the two or three he was in. It'll be interesting to see what he does after 3-4 weeks are up. Will he admit he doesn't want to play so he can't lose points, and just play 1 game to stay officially active? Or will he actually start at least keeping a few games going

I really fail to see the harm in becoming Conqueror that way. He set a goal, he made it and he used an effective method to do it. Yeah, he doesn't have any diversity among his map/setting-choice, but that's his decision. I hear people saying "I play everything, because that's more fun". That's what I do too, but obviously not what Emmdizzle wants right now. What was it again, different folks...

The word 'honorable' has been named a lot in this thread. Cheating is dishonorable, breaking a truce on a breakpoint in the game is dishonorable, secret diplomacy, etc... Since everyone seems to agree he is not cheating, I don't understand why everyone is so upset. I can't even remember seeing a Conqueror who didn't use a specific method. He found another way to do it and it worked, so... congratulations, Emmdizzle!

I don't know Emmdizzle the slightest bit, but searching through his games, it seems all right to me. He's put a lot of time in this game to become Conqueror and y'all should be happy you have other things to do, instead of blaming him for doing this.

Can't wait for the next Conqueror, so we can have a new thread about a new method that was used this time.

It's not the 1 map that's the problem. It's the gross abuse of the invite system that is.

I'd rather play honestly, and not prey on weaker players than be higher ranked. Thanks for the advice any way.

To me The part where you prey on Weak players is pretty dishonorable. Aborting the game if any one higher than lieutenant Joins is pretty dishonorable. If he was honorable he would accept any challenge he was faced with. No it's not cheating, and it shouldn't be stopped, but these are the kinds of games I avoid. I don't like people that play like this, or more to the point, care more about there score than actually playing the game. But hey it's his choice. It's not the way I would conduct myself but I also don't care enough about gunning for the number one spot to get worked about someone achieving the goal in this fashion.

Fantastic post by waseem. Thank you for taking the time to lay bare the underhand methods that Emmdizzle has used to attain his rank.

What many of this cheat's supporters fail to grasp is that people who adopt such tactics are detrimental to the site. What is the point of playing any game if someone is allowed to abuse the system? When things like this become evident then who, having just joined CC, is going to think "Hey this is fun" and sign-up for premium? And why bother with a scoreboard when honest players (and I'll consider myself in that number) don't stand a chance of reaching the top. Is it fair to expect them to stoop to such nefarious means as well?

If a man beats his children he will, nevertheless, still be a 'father'. However, he will also be branded an abuser. What this site needs (if not a rule revamp) is a new 'Abuser' icon so that pariahs such as Emmdizzle can be labelled for all to see and all to avoid.

He may then bask in his singular glory whilst the honest players on this site may feel justified to point their righteous fingers in his direction.

yeahyeah we have heard it now, apparently you still feel you need to defend yourself so maybe there is something to the critisism you are arcing here..

Also we have heard what a naughty boy you have been, so let's just drop both sides now shall we? Everyone on the site knows what's up either way,, no matter who the conq is at the moment there will still be players I and many with me respect more..

Teamplayers (many good generals on the site who lead their teams to victory in clanwars or games against equal teams) or really good 1v1 players that play whatever and stay around major since 1v1 is 1v1..

Long way of saying what ever but hey that's just me..

Yes, we all know that the conqs need to use... "unorthodox" tactics to get there. However, I believe that an argument is being made here that this player's abuse of the invite system goes beyond what other conqs have done. I'm not necessarily saying I agree with that, but I think that the issue certainly has enough weight that it should be looked at and discussed freely within the forums.

No one is asking you to care... I'm sure the majority of CC doesn't really give a f*ck. However, that doesn't mean that those who do have to shut up, does it?

lmao, he posts, but still has not started any new games.

Start making games, make them private if you want to invite one person to each team, or public and don't use invites, and if you keep your score you will gain respect with me, and I think just about everyone else on this thread. I've got no problem with you playing one game type, you have to in order to be conqueror. If you're really a good player, you don't have to abuse the invite system.

You're probably right. As long as there are cheats who are prepared to abuse the system then there will never be a level playing field.

At least I still have something to strive for. You on the other hand, like your reputation, can only go down.

Why do you care if he plays games? A lot of time goes into any freestyle casual game to be avaliable at all hours of the day to take your move. Why dont you care that Thai Robert and Mehenigan aren't playing games and would you be upset if they weren't if they made it to the #1 spot?

you're right.
but what 500 point cook is on all the time? Either there's something fishy there or he does not need them to be available at all times. And based on the most recent game, where they played back to back once it got to the latter half of the game, either dizzle waited for the cook to be on, or I think he's taking the cook's turns. If it's the first thing, Emmdizzle does not need to be on all the time, just at the same time as his partner. So with that option your theory is not right.

Much more likely, your are right, he is on all the time, and needs to be since it's freestyle, but he's taking the cook's turns. Emmdizzle's most recent cook, Cox, played Game 7271562 (after dizzle dropped it because he was scared of Nicky), and while they won, Cox and his partner didn't take their turns together/at the best times. Since that game started before his last couple with Emmdizzle ended, and Cox had very few active games, and he did not take his turn in that game at the same time as the Emmdizzle games (Emmdizzle games at 14:00ish Eastern time, other game at 15:30ish Eastern time on July 15th), I do not think that he took his own turns in the Emmdizzle games.

Unfortunately, since Emmdizzle isn't playing right now, I can't prove it. Hopefully I will have the time to if he continues to play those games with cook's at some point.

Look at me going off on a tangent :P . I just think it's bogus that he stops playing literally as soon as he gets to conqueror.

Don't lump Mhennigan in this group. Henni relishes playing the best he can find. He would rather play high ranks than non high ranks. He wins more points that way. Sure Hennigan likes certain maps, but he has played vs the best many times over. He just knows what it takes to play freestyle and only plays when he can afford the time to play.

Ljex....in your role as moderator (and therefore a custodian of the site and its integrity) I'm surprised you're prepared to defend the underhand tactics employed by certain members.

The implementation of the invite function was a wonderful facility that has been enjoyed by all and used, by the majority, in accordance with its intent. All it takes is one selfish individual to abuse it and the consequence may be that site admin have to implement certain constraints. Net result.....we all lose out, to the detriment of the site and its playability.

So I'd have thought "He's within the rules, however unethical it may be" would be the most apt remark you could make, but then of course it's not my place to say.

p.s. good luck in all those City Mogul games ;)

It's just YOUR opinion that's it's abuse. The mods don't see it that way. Hence no punishment , no rule changes, no anything. Just face it, I found a way to get to the top and YOU DIDN'T. You and some of your friends can cry all day about it, but what does that do in spite of everything? Absolutely nothing. Move on, man. I don't plan on playing that game for a long while anyway. Team games with clanmates is on the horizon, and yes I will eventually fall from the top spot as all others have, but my goal was just to make there in the first place within the rules and guess what? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

Sure you did make it, within the rules. That does not mean you aren't gaming the system. You just found a "legal" way to do it. Is it ethical? Of course not. Does it make you a better player than many of those below you? Certainly not. All you did is to accumulate lots of points very quickly. Shrugs. So what? It means strictly nothing. All it did is to satisfy your need for recognition. Just like the last person who used the "Mission Accomplished" slogan, you won the battle and lost the war. There's nothing to see here folks - just a guy who figured out how to game the system within the rules. Big deal. Let's move on.

Mine and countless others it would seem
Just face it, I found a way to get to the top and YOU DIDN'T
Yeah, and Sir Edmund Hillary could have been carried on a sedan chair by servants (that's 'cooks' to you) to the summit of Everest. Hardly the same thing though is it. And are you really so unabashed as to think you're the first to devise such a system? Maybe others have scruples, honour, a sense of fair play, etc etc.
You and some of your friends can cry all day about it
I'm not crying about it. On the contrary, I'm laughing publicly in your face and watching you squirm trying to defend yourself.
but what does that do in spite of everything?
It makes me feel better about playing the game in the manner it was intended, as well as showcasing what a hollow victory you have earned yourself. Who knows....maybe someone not in possession of all the facts looks at the scoreboard and mistakes you for a real conqueror.
