BBS is annoyingly accurate. I've stopped buying (thus limiting my smoking greatly), but spoon pops around a couple of times a week to play Halo and I usually partake a little then.

Still...3 joints a day down to maybe a joint a week (total) is pretty good. I've also cut out boozing entirely and am now just left with my fiendish nicitone habit. Which is the real killer to quit.

Why this determination to clean up my act? Boringly, because I am turning 30. No doubt like countless millions before me I have this 'I'm not a kid any longer' mentality. No more girls, booze, drugs (basically)...I'm a new man.

The 'no girls policy' is actually the hardest. As always, I am surrounded by totty here in the land of 'me love white man'. But I spurn them all...no flirting, I keep the jokes at a minimum, I give the overriding impression that I am most certainly not available. In a city where married men with money cheat as a matter of course, this is considered rather unusual. Yet I came to the conclusion (quite a while ago) that the sheer decadence of my life was corrupting my soul in some way.

So I cleaned up my act.

That's interesting, because it's something I've been doing for a few years now. I've been telling myself that I'm nearing 30 and need to quit the partying, gratuituous drug consumption, etc and get my life back on track. So these days I only smoke weed occasionally, I don't do other drugs at all, I drink alcohol in moderation... still haven't managed to quit smoking but I'm working on that.

We've become boring adult-type guys. I don't know about you but I feel this constant dread, every day, that "this is it" that all the fun times are behind, and the next 20-40 years are going to be a slow descent to boredom and eventually the grave. On the other hand, I also feel comfortable in the stable, safe & predictable life I've managed to build around me - shit, I even own a washer-dryer combination now. And a dish washing machine.

If I ever sell my guitar, get a haircut and enroll to business school, please have mercy and just shoot me in the head.

Shit, typing this got me so depressed that I'm gonna go smoke some weed now.
