will need a few seconds for this one. I checked out the trailer, looks very interesting. If there arent 12 bigger/better noms, it's inBigBallinStalin wrote:I've seen two recent highly enjoyable sci-fi fliks lately:

and.... that one where those two dudes wake up on that spaceship, and it gets real serious in the first 5 minutes and builds the ENTIRE time, succesfully too. Awesome film! Came out in 2008, 9 or maybe this year? Not sure.. the name is something like "Pandorum"
Books are always better. Dune is a great read and an ok movie. 2001: a Space Odyssey was a great film for 1968, but needs to be seen on the BIG screen to be fully appreciated. When Alien (1979) premiered it was in a league of it's own and Blade Runner (1982) also by Ridley Scott shares a similar status.fumandomuerte wrote:The book is million times better.
I agree.gordon 1975 wrote:district 9 was excellent
Eh, have you ever fought a space battle against a hive mind? Pretty sure its unknown what the best strategy might be. Also its not attrition per se, just necessary losses but it may be different in the movie. The book implies that he had to make huge sacrifices, but overall he had the better strategy. i.e. Attrition =/= sacrifices.Symmetry wrote:I've not read the books for Ender's Game, but the movie was silly. His strategy is attrition.
This is not great strategy.
I wouldnt click on the Breaking Bad thread cause I know it will likely contain spoilers.thegreekdog wrote:What is the statute of limitations on spoilers? I haven't watched the final season of Breaking Bad, but people don't see too concerned about spoiling the ending (even though I can only watch the show on Netflix and the final season won't be released for a little while). Ender's Game, the novel, has been out for many years. Why should people feel bad about spoiling that book?
Spoiler tags added, though out of courtesy. I don't think that I spoiled anything.Lootifer wrote:Can you please chuck up spoiler tags Symm
My reply to symm also contains major spoilers about Enders Game.
Spoiler

Ender did not indaventedly send armies to the meat grinder; he was simply flippant with his "acceptable" losses. Which is kind of the whole point of the twist.
Don't forget that Tom Cruise asked people not to reveal the "surprise" ending of Warof the Worlds...thegreekdog wrote:What is the statute of limitations on spoilers?
