That's hardly a reason to keep him around. Sure, there's a tiny chance he'll kill the SK, but it's far more likely he'll just put us back another townie. Giving scum an extra kill on the off-chance they'll kill the SK is not a good idea.

Note: this is assuming derf is scum. If he's town, his role would be useful, but this can be said for everybody.

He doesn't want to keep the SK alive, he wants to keep derf alive, even if he's mafia, because of the remote chance that derf's one shot kill gets the SK.

Statistically, if you random lynch someone, then they have a better chance of ending up town, then Mafia or 3rd party, besides, if you accidentally/random lynch someone, then you don't get as much info that you could possibly get from them.

Derf has a 7/11 chance of killing a townie with his role is he's town, a 8/11 chance of killing a townie is he's SK and a 8/9 chance of killing a townie is he's mafia. Explain to me how his role is any more useful than for instance animorph's role.
