Hello again. This is the official answer:

<position> tags are used to distribute some regions between the starting players. If some regions are not assigned to any player (like in 6 player games as in our case here) the unassigned regions come back to the pool. Regions in the pool are divided evenly among players unless they are coded to start as neutral. So Victor is right.
Welcoming the long awaited Trench Warfare Setting (Previously Adjacent Attacks).

My Maps:
Research and Conquer - Civilization meets Conquer Club

Best score: 2,346 - Best position: #618 - Best percentile: 4.87%

I apologize to Sully for being wrong and saying he was wrong. It doesn't happen often that I'm wrong.

So... how about we leave them all coded as neutrals and change them to 12 individual starting positions with a max of 3? You'd have a chance of dropping 3 of the same, but I'm not sure what the odds would be. I'd only be real worried about it in 2p games and 4p games (dubs).

2p: 3 ea, 6 neutral
3p: 3 ea, 3 neutral
4p: 3 ea, 0 neutral
5p: 2 ea, 2 neutral
6p: 2 ea, 0 neutral
7p: 1 ea, 5 neutral
8p: 1 ea, 4 neutral

Thoughts?

The odds would roughly be: 1/2 x 5/11 x 2/5 = 1/11, so not good. Max="2" is the way to go, I think. I could lower the neutrals on the starting positions from 3 to 2 to counteract the additional neutral regions a bit.

Nobody else cares, so go for it. It can be tested in beta if it ever gets there.

Ace

The gameplay is over my monkey-brain, but I'll give it a shot once it is in BETA.

if the gameplay is at least half as good as the graphics it's gonna be a blast :)

The XML will be checked, you'll have to wait a while, you'll be notified soon about it. After that the map will get the XML stamp and then if there's no further complaints/suggestions it's off to beta.

OK, I have a small problem: I can't find the images without the neutral troops on them so I can't send the files to the turtle...Can you post here the final images?
Thanks

A few days to turn a layer of. Bloody hell, I have heard of taking it slowly in the foundry but this takes the prize for procrastination.

While we're waiting Ace for the final version without neutrals on it, let me make a final call:

Last Call

The map has passed through rigorous gameplay and graphics examinations and all major concerns have been addressed. If you have any other concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be stamped and submitted for the Beta period.

Please, post questions and concerns if any.

Blow me. Most times I can only get on via my iphone, so it's quite difficult to get graphics files uploaded here.

First post updated with final (?) graphics.
