It is seperate, yes.

However, it is also fact that polygamist societies, over time, tend toward younger and younger brides and more male violance.
These are all male-dominated societies... where women have no voice. This is NOT the case in Modern America.
And do you have examples of societies where women are fully included that are also polygamist?
Because many assert that the lack is, itself, pretty telling. For my part, I know women ( in the US)who are willingly in caring polygamist relationships, who's children are all supported and treated reasonably well. They specifically do NOT use the "m" word, for legal reasons, but consider themselves "married under God". These are far from stupid women, far from meek "do whatever I am told" women.

I also know some African women who definitely consider having another women to "share the load" -- both work-wise (tending kids, the house,) and sexually as well as for companionship (always a friend about to talk) as important...
You just proved my points for me.

Thank You.

Oh and you say on one hand the women in these relationships are smart... and on the other the men are arrogant assholes. Interesting.

I suspect you think 99.9% of men are "ignorant assholes".

Should I be complimented or offended?

Player tends to bring people from both side together... just so they can be 'against' her points.

Read again.
Or, as I said initially, you never disputed what I said from the start, which is that approving of homosexuality legally does not automatically mean we should approve polygamy, because they ARE fundamentally different.

The above scenario which I think you are suggesting is the standard is not the standard in societies where polygamy is prevalent. THAT is a critical point.

Well, I am still waiting for an example of the society where polygamy is pervasive AND women are not suppressed. See, MY point (which you ignored) was that it can happen in small quantities, in the US, but that is very different from saying it would happen if the mode were made legal and standard.

And it does look as though I know a good deal more about polygamy and how it actually works than you.

Try rereading. They were representatives of 2 different cultures... and the point that the men in the second were asses. but the women still liked having other women around rather gets in the way of the whole "if women agree, it must be OK" kind of argument you have put forward.

I can also point to plenty of abused women who go back to their husbands.
You failed to provide what I asked.. even ONE example of a society with pervasive/institutionalized/recognized polygamy that treats women well.
