We astronomers think that essentially every galaxy has a supermassive black hole at its core. That black hole is constantly pulling on the gas nearby it, and trying to suck it inside, which heats up the gas during the process. There are certain periods during a galaxy's evolution when this is happening very violently, and lots of mass is being heated by the supermassive black hole. We can see it from far away as a much brighter source than a normal galaxy like ours is when its black hole is quiet.

I asked what was in a quasar, not some rambling about black holes,or pink holes, or yellow holes, or any other holes.

A quasar is the name for the light produced by the black hole inside a galaxy that we're seeing. It's not a unique object, it's just a really bright galaxy. I am uncertain as to why you think I didn't answer your question, but your response was sufficiently dickish that this is the last of yours I'll be answering.

Mets, do you think astronomy is important to human beings or do you just find it interesting? I remember reading something about Stephen Hawking and how he was torn between focusing on the very large and the very small and decided to go with the very large and I was like " f*ck, he could have cured cancer by now!!!".

I think astrophysics is very interesting and also not particularly important to human beings compared to other fields. There's a very good chance I'll leave the field within the next couple of years so I can do something with more practical applications, perhaps in the energy industry or working on science or energy policy for the government.

When you work on energy policy for the government, can you get them to make laws that electronic products are to actually turn off when not in use. This is a pet peeve of mine. It used to be that your ghetto blaster turned off when you powered it off, now it doesn't. It's that way for just about all newer electronics. I am not talking about the clock, that should stay on, or a switch if you want the clock on, but the thing should actually go OFF, zero power draw, not STAND BY where it continues to consume our resources.

There's usually good reasons why these devices are drawing standby power even when they're powered off. Instead of an outright ban -- I don't like those -- I would rather have economic incentives for technologies that reduce standby power usage. Indeed a good bit of progress has already been made on such things.

I recommend that you invest in some switchable power strips to plug your main electronics into, so that when you leave for the day you can easily turn everything off.

Do you have to put a lot of work into looking that beautiful or does it come naturally?

Interesting question, and thank you for saying so!

Some things are just natural. As a Chinese I am blessed with naturally hairless legs, so they require no maintenance to stay silky smooth 24/7. My good upbringing also means that my charm and civilized manner sit naturally on me, and I don't have to make a conscious effort in order to give the alluring and yet sophisticated aura that I do.

Other things take work. In order to maintain my sexy, not-fat-like-a-white-pig physique, I have to take great care about what I eat during social situations, and also run every morning (but not too far, so that my legs don't get too muscly). That said, one of the nice things about eating family style (as Asians and many Africans and Arabs do, where all the food is placed in the middle of the table and eaten communally) is that it is easy to eat little without it being very apparent that you are declining to eat, and without leaving a plate full of food that will be wasted.

All in all, it is not difficult to maintain my sexy appearance, and all those fat slobs out there eating chocolate in their jogging bottoms should take a good, hard look at themselves in two mirrors.
