Mike Huckabee and now Sarah Palin?!!....all they need now is make Mitt Romney the lead anchor.

....and you guys are forgetting that Geraldo's show alone makes the network balanced. :D

I'm not sure I know a lot of knowledgeable political commentators. She should fit right in, no matter what network she joins. MSNBC should have offered her a contract (seriously).

Olbermann and O'Reilly are knowledgeable, they are simply not knowledgeable on everything and/or choose to ignore things. Palin simply doesn't know things. Like, an astonishing amount of things.

Olbermann and O'Reilly are intelligent, but I don't think either is knowledgeable.

Really? I feel it's more the other way around, but I guess it depends on how you define the two words.

Still nothing compared to Heather Khan when she first started with the premier of Fox News. It was depressing when she left to go to a real news network.

A valid point. Bob Costas is probably one of the most knowledgeable political commentators, and he's a SPORTS COMMENTATOR.

I would tend to agree with thegreekdog. I think they're both smart guys, but I think they both allow their inherent biases to cloud their knowledge (by allowing themselves to ignore pieces of information). I would include Rush Limbaugh in this, as well.

Rush is in no way a stupid man. However, he has allowed his ego and power to overwhelm the intelligence so much that it has become difficult to see it.

Alright, I just watched her opening segment on The O'Reilly Factor. It was mostly similar to other segments done by other Republican commentators like Huckabee and Gingrich. The only issue I have with her becoming a commentator is that I doubt her political career is over. It doesn't make sense to me to become a commentator and allow everything you ever say to be recorded and over-scrutinized, and then try to go back into a political arena. Huckabee probably won't run for president again, and I'm doubtful on Gingrich doing the same, so I don't have a problem with them becoming commentators. Having former political people become commentators can provide some excellent insight into the goings on of Washington, but I don't think it's beneficial to run for office after being a commentator.

I would definitely agree with you on that...seems like you'd just be intentionally providing ammunition to be used against you.

Certainly. Plenty of very intelligent people have no common sense.

One of my best friends certainly fits that. 4.0 student taking 5 or so AP courses our senior year in high school, yet did not know the symbol on a shirt he bought in Hawaii was that of Marijuanna. And he is basically the definition of a goody-two shoes.
