Funny posts =D>

I don't want to jump to conclusions but I think the fear is justified.

Non-clan members should be denied access to forums as they could view pending admission discussions, clan war planning that could be used to exploit weaknesses (though TOFU's are minimal), etc. The site should think twice before allowing people, even mods who are in other clans, access to private forums. Otherwise, the clan system is diminished as a whole.

I understand they may need to be policed for serious issues or crimes but that should be exclusive to those without clan ties.

I know the secret code to get into clan forums too. It's up, down, up,down, left, right, left, right, B, A, select, start.

  • Admins, not mods, have access to all clan and usergroup forums; the same goes for
  • If a user is hiding his or her online status, he or she is not shown as a "guest," but doesn't appear at all under "USERS BROWSING THIS FORUM
  • Banned members show up just like non-banned users do
These are all facts. Soo I think it was just a glitch. I've seen it happen before in usergroups and clan forum—either that, or there's some weird admin option…

Ok, this is sort of on topic. I was thinking it would be nice as a clan reporter to be able to get a "visitors pass" into a clan forum, if the clan leader(s) would agree to it. Maybe something that would expire after 3 days or something like that. I know that this should go in suggs and bugs, but I thought I would throw it out here first and get some feedback first. What does everyone think?

I think it's be a really cold day in a really warm place before any clan worth their salt would let even a neutral reporter peruse their forum, to say nothing of someone from a rival clan.

You could already doing something like this---by contacting the leaders of Clans, and letting you join "unofficially" --- need not anything mandated by website.

As for the Guests, I don't think it is much of anything. I'll check and make sure no settings have been altered recently.

I wouldn't have a problem with it George, though of course I'd have to ask my fellow clansmen first. We have no upcoming games against TSM, nor are you in the Conqueror's Cup, so there are no secrets that would benefit you. Sensitive issues (such as passwords) are not kept in our forum at all and we have no dirty underwear (that's the reserve of our opponents). Put mildly, I trust you.

Besides, when you see what a tidy, disciplined yet humorous house we run you might decide to stay for good ;)

We would reserve the right to vet any info in your report that we considered detrimental to the clan before you went public with it, if you're agreeable to that.

We would think it was fun, BUT, ONE of us would have to have some SERIOUS moderator powers to be able to restrict which threads you could go into. If we could restrict you by thread, I think we would be cool with it.

Way too much effort. There is possibly a way if the clan forum had a sub forum...where you put stuff you dont want to be seen. And
then you let people into your clan to see the other stuff...I however never think that admins would go for this.
Way to much effort. If its ever to happen...it would be all or nothing

Wow, wouldn't it be wonderful if the clans could MODERATE THEIR OWN FUCKING FORUM?

Half the issue is that we can't delete ANYTHING

I still don't understand why a clan leader can't get these privileges. I KNOW there is BB code for that shit. SOMEONE is just lazy... ;)

I'm curious, why would that be such an advantage? So old clan forum threads never die, but they eventually slip off the first page and are more or less forgotten.

You know I love you to bits George, but why on earth would you want that? Just ask the clan members/leaders whatever you want to know....

Or I could sell you a script that figures out peoples passwords, usually only needs a few seconds and poof, you're in. I use it all the time. 8-)

Sometimes its nice to be able to organize threads, and edit/delete posts in threads for clan business, internal tourniments, ladder challenges, secret technique info  , ect. It's also nice to be able to find stuff without digging through a bunch of shit.

YES, its possible to just deal with the system as it is but it's a pain.

Lx has hit the nail on the head here really. Half our guys said "Sure, no probs. We've nothing to hide" and the other half said "What does he hope to learn or find? Surely he can just ask us". There would also be a potential security issue of someone else logging in with George's account (assuming he has sitters).

So, I guess TOFU will have to retain its air of mystique :D

Asking this question is analogous to asking, "why do you need to post in a forum, why can't you just pm everyone". A clan forum is where the clan members go, they read the threads in there, and they are the only ones in there. It's like saying why does a reporter to go to a country instead of calling on the phone. You get a better feel when you are there. Going into a forum, maybe making a thread with a few questions, could teach me more than sending 10 pms.

Discussion about the desire for clan powers should probably be in a different topic, where it can have it's own voice.

Good point, it would be handy, but I wouldn't necessarily put it at the top of the to-do list.

That's a pretty spurious analogy, George. This isn't a reporter going to a foreign country, this is a reporter asking for a foreign country's classified files. I can't speak for other clans, but there's quite a bit in the THOTA forum that is, for lack of a better way of putting it, proprietary information and thus not available for consumption by anyone who hasn't been voted into the clan. There's nothing news-worthy in there that you couldn't get by asking me or blitz or BW or any other horseman.
