I realize (and I do) that you are Conservative. And that Texas is a Conservative state. But, you may be interested to look at some other factors rather than what state looks the coolest to you.Their minimum wage is like $4.50 an hour for crying out loud. They have enough cheap labor that they don't have to raise it.And they don't give out jack for state benefits either. You don't want to be caught choosing between your apartment and food.Maybe you'll find the right church...But I wouldn't just pick up and move with no education just for that. Were I you, I would move to a blue state. They are a lot more forgiving and giving. The environment will be a little bit more of what you are used to, and you'll make more money.
Like Illinois for example.
Sure our state is billions in debt, but as a Canadian Citizen, you're not responsible for that. And you can enjoy our $8.50 minimum wage. It's soon to be $8.50 by law too. Plus half of live chat lives her, so you'll already have a support network of friends kinda. Heck I mean, I don't have a roommate or anything...hehe.... I guess I wouldn't mind sharing a place with a girl like you or whatever... anyway, just something to think about...
BTW we have awesome state parks and hamburgers. Chicago pizza too.
I SWEAR TO GOD THAT I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU STUPID!!!!

I used to wander around a lot in my teens using the YHA in the UK. DIrt cheap, really friendly, full of people who know the ropes too. A good place to stay for a week or two while you make sure you can get a decent plce, and look it over properly (as others have advised).
I found this link - I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but you might want to take a look.

Yes I am moving to texas. Not sure exactly when-hopefully by end of june I will b there.
I do have a city I have been looking at.
I am going cause I like it there I am young and have nothing better going on sick of my social/family life up here and am looking for a change-figure cant be any worse if I move and might get better.
The only problem is i live far from texas so The chance to view the apartment before hand might be a problem

Having been in Texas, I tend to be with the people who say to stay away. One good thing is that they are in need of a lot of people down there, so job prospects are pretty good. Be very, very careful, though. DO NOT go to Brownsville or anywhere down in that "corner" if you can help it.
Living in your car is definitely feasible from a weather, etc standpoint, but Texas is not too friendly toward "visitors". They don't tend to have a lot of "facilities". Instead of rest stops, just to name an example, you get "parking areas" ... and those only on main highways. People tend to be pretty protective of their property, so be very careful. (the stereotypes are somewhat true). Also, in the "boonies" and even in some towns, they do have rattlers, etc. They are not a big concern, just something you need to get used to -- don't stick your hand in places you cannot see, don't just sleep on the ground in most places, etc. ( a cot is a good investment if you are camping out).
Only one thing I can add to the rest of the advise... when you rent, take a COMPLETE record of any and all damage, etc. Also, realize that if you rent a place that's dirty, you still have to have it clean (steam clean rugs, etc.) and often in decent repair before you leave. If the landlord accepts a copy of the inventory, keep one yourself. If they do not, then sign it and mail a couple of copies to yourself, leave unopened (posting it gives you a date). Also take PICTURES.. get a cheap disposable camera if you don't have one.
Finally, a "word to the wise"... you will find that when you move everyone you left will have more or less moved with you. The faces will differ, but you will find the same jerks, the same nice people... etc. Unless your issues are very, very specific, chances are you won't like your new local much better than your old one.
