this thread is about myspace, not boobies (altho that pic was sent to me on myspace) i m not gonna get into the whole censorship puritanical (sic.)oxymoron of violence vs simple nudity (this site is based in montreal canada for g0ds sake!)
anywho, myspace comments, suggestions etc... bring em on, the account was just created a few days ago
1. People waste their lives away on them when they could be communicating in real life.
2. They're a very superficial medium of communication, encouraging stupid little drawings and pictures, and creating big "friend" lists and short comments about how much you love someones new hat. And as such encourage vanity, superficiality and detract from any hope of meaningful relationships.
3. The benefits of them are overstated. If you truly wanted to keep in contact visit them or call them, or if you can't then send an email. And if you're too lazy to do that, then maybe they shouldn't be your friend. Life isn't about having a massive friend list...
4. They allow advertising to directly enroach upon communication. The idea that someone somewhere is profiting out of me talking to my friend sickens me. See myspace records or whatever...
5. They distract from other forms of communication over the internet, like forums; and also distract future web heads... instead of learning basic html and coding up your own first site on some rediculous free host to upload your pictures and display them, people will just get a bebo and learn nothing about computers.
6. The internet used to be enpowering. It used to increase your privacy and provide you with information. It used to allow you to communicate anonymously. Lately that's changed. The internet seems more like a trap, anything I post on a social networking site becomes common knowledge to all. And I can barely do anything offline without someone gossiping about it online. I guess that's more a problem with society in general, but social networking sites certainly encourage such behaviour. As well as that all hope of annonymity is gone with such sites.
7. (Most importantly) People using social networking sites in college take up all the computers and stop me playing CC.

The backdoor massif is everywhere... it involves every aspect of our lives, so please excuse us if it sometimes seems irrelevant to you.
