So if there's 4000 premium players, we're talking 67-100K.

oops, you forgot the $200.00-300.00 per year he sells in T-shirts, coffee mugs and the like ;-D

Yeah IKR, I looked at the store once and thought maybe I'll get a t-shirt. Then... Nahhh.

I wish I could get a t-shirt of my profile page. Now that would be cool.

Just a thought, but if the ownership wanted additional revenue, they could simply enable ads on both the site and the forum. For all the talk I suspect the loss in premium players would be negligible.

So that leads me to wonder how much the site is actually geared towards profit vs traffic, traffic being a much greater weight when looking at sale value of an online commodity.

Didn't some free search engine end up being worth some money?

Actually the store seems soewhat barren of late. They used to have mugs with maps on them. The one I bought back in 2007 is worn to the point where the map is a faint fuzzy fog on my cup. Now the only coffee mug is the one with the offical logo on it. I have a feeling that the store is generally an unused wasteland.

I actually attempted to contact lackattack about purchasing CC. It's been a while...maybe three months or so ago since I contacted AndyDufresne initially (since lackattack won't allow anyone to PM him directly), to which Andy told me how to try to contact lackattack. No response, which I've taken as no interest.

I assume you went through his official site??

Yes, he seemed to be feeling famous or something. There is always a certain amount of embellishment for these sorts of things. I did notice he was using the past tense a lot referring to CC as if "been there, done that". It has been over a year too since the interview. Maybe he's got religion, who knows...

Does anyone have any hard data on the number of premium subscriptions?

Have these been declining?
Because if all we are loosing are mostly fremiums, then perhaps it puts the "Great C.C. Decline into perspective?

I'd have to see the books of course, but my first offer would be 150k just for the potential it offers.

Monopoly money or real money?

Real Money.
I doubt Lack will ever sell, as it's a bit of a cash cow.

The Store is just a Zazzle link. You can get those guys to put a picture of last Mondays shit on there if you wanted to, but they charge a ludicrous amount. A better marketing plan would be to invest a minor percentage of the revenue and purchase the items in bulk. Then distribute them to C.cup winners, Mods, and all other contests. The purpose of logo bling is to street level advertise and bring traffic. Horribly executed in my opinion in it's current state.

Apparently he had a baby. As a new parent of an 8 month old as of today, I can imagine how his desire to spend time listening to idiots bitch about his website and appeasing them with programming updates has lost its appeal.

Still, I think CC would not be a bad investment for someone who had the follow-through to continuously improve it. The question is, is Lack willing to sell if he's really lost the gusto for it.

Lolz at this.

But like you said, if he's no longer interested, maybe its time to pass the torch.

A legitimate offer would be $20 per current premium member, I think. Especially since that number is in sharp decline.

I think a legitimate offer would be 3 years profit...whatever that is. As much as we say the numbers are in sharp decline, I think we all know that is a fixable issue...or at least we all think it is.
