Funny enough, the same rings true for Wyoming. No roaches, nice place to visit, but we have a bit more luck with the "we don't want you to live here" part.

It's easy to bash someone's brains in because cranial plates are pretty thin. Sutures are fairly elastic and actually help keep the skull intact, much like old skyscrapers are more prone to collapse in an earthquake because they're too rigid.

The original function of a rib cage is to protect organs and provide attachment sites for muscles. The diaphragm does not push against the lungs the way you think it does. When the diaphragm contracts, it drops and flattens, pulling the lungs and dropping their internal pressure, thus allowing influx of air. Release of the contraction allows the pressures to return to normal and equalize.

Anyway, your argument is silly. Your original point that mrs (correctly) contested was that humans "[have] absolutely no protection to vital organs whatsoever." They do, they have plenty, otherwise our organs would be sitting right around our assholes.

Terminal velocity is pretty low for beetles. (Yes, cockroaches are beetles.) I suspect you could drop it from the Sears Tower and it would live.

If you could kill it that way, would it be less moral that killing it any other way? I don't think so. Most people kill insects with a variety of poisons. I don't know if anyone's every studied the suffering involved, but I'm sure at least some of these modes of death are quite painful. Killing something swiftly with a violent blow is quite likely less painful that being poisoned.

Evolution, through the survival of the fittest, "designs" things in living being beings. It is a simple fact, more things step on cockroaches than they do on people. Cockroaches that didn't survive this died. Humans, never having to be stepped on all the time, never had to have the thick skull people surviving over the thin skull people.

To be honest, I'm not sure what that actually means.

Now some rights, even though inalienable, aren't always an option, especially to a freshly fertilized egg. Free speech, religion, and bearing arms being just three of them.

More importantly, I'm hanging on a petard of my own making and I'm willing to admit it. I used the word "conception" not "fertilization." It's a classic mistake on my part, but a significant one. Webster makes this clear ... (as mud but I digress) ... "the process of becoming pregnant involving fertilization or implantation or both." In other words, conception = fertilization and implantation. So it's not a "freshly fertilized egg" since it takes a while to continue down the Fallopian tube to the uterus and then to be implanted therein.

And would I give it to the fetuses of illegal immigrants? Yes. Absolutely. No killing embryos because they are not citizens. But that doesn't mean they have a right to be in the country, if the mother doesn't have a right. I mean it might be possible to give a visa to the embryo and not the mother, but that's really Bizarro world and no sane person would do that.

Oh and no waterboarding embryos either (oh wait, they don't breathe through their lungs so that's moot).
