I wouldn't have even known there was an election in Pakistan if it weren't for the assasination, let alone know the names of the candidates who were running for nomination to have a crack at the presidency -
Just an interesting thought
The 'election' in Pakistan has been getting pretty major coverage in the UK for a while now... I'd have thought it was a pretty major event, although I suppose we do have a lot of people of Pakistan origin so it is perhaps more relevant than to Australia...
But yes, American politics does get pretty big coverage. Whoever wins is gonna have their finger over a huge red button, so I guess we all want to know who it will be! Plus Bush is certainly a worldwide figure now, so the election of his successor is bound to make the news.
fwiw, i think the news outlets here were talking about the election in pakistan before the bhutto assination...but probably from a war on terror perspective.
I don't think Ron Paul did bad at all. 10% in a caucus isn't bad at all, especially when he came in just 4% behind the third place finisher. I'm not disappointed.
"The Nation that makes a great distinction between its scholars and its warriors will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools."
Ron beat Giulliani...surprising that Paul got 10%! I figure he will do a bit better in New Hampshire, but the Republican mind frame is owned by the NeoCons...so I don't expect RonPaul to get the nomination.
I am preparing to vote for Obama, but I will consider whomever RonPaul endorses.
Congrats to Obama and Huckabee!

in theory of paul was going to do well in an early state, it would be new hampshire...its too bad romney will probably get a lot of that vote. or at least too bad for paul.

Especially considering 9u11iani's low, low vote.
I was thrown back by the low vote on Giullani...Ron Paul kicked his ass!

What you've got to realize about Giuliani and his low vote total..was that he skipped campaigning in Iowa. And he isn't doing it in New Hampshire either. Or South Carolina. Or Nevada. He's going straight to Florida. Different strategy. I don't think it will work. But that's the reason for low voter turn-out for him.

Andy beat me to the explanation.
At least I disagree. I think it will work for Giuliani. I'm certainly hoping he wins the nomination – that way Republicans have no chance...
I just wanted to point out that Romney won in Wyoming. CNN Story And best I can tell, there aren't many Americans in Wyoming, because Paul got a 0%. Even though he did campaign in the state. FoxNews Story

Perhaps you could do it without swearing. I know others here don't care about that, but I thought you did.
Ok, this seems fair enough, I didn't realise you would consider this swearing. I wanted to add emphasis to the statement in a disparaging and colloquial way, the aim ofmy post being more than anything to draw into debate with Huckabe-ists.
