Potential classic revamp?

I really think it would hel if you could switch between the revamped map and the original map

now that's a cool idea...

and if it's do-able, why not add satellite view too, you know, like they do on mapquest/google maps/etc.

But to the point... if you're going to do the classic map, use the 1959 classic board... timeless...

I'm with you on this one. Esspecially for the Classic map. It's even called Classic. A new classic would be bordering on the oxymoronic.

as a classic nut-- i'd like to see the same map just cleaner.... i read somewhere the map foundry prides itself on high standards.. it's not very sharp and detailed as i'd like to see. as for a 'new' map, that's not revamping to me.

If you never noticed, there was a wee bit of inspiration from the game RISK, making it a classic from the start of CC.

no offense gimil but i support a revamp too but your poll should include an option of someelse other than you doing the revamp eg a competition or the likes - this is nothing against you personally or as an artist but i do think other map makers should also be given a shot at this one.

edit: I genuinely think you need to take down your poll and replace it with a more general one - should this be done or not, let's discuss the map maker afterwards

i used the current colors of Classic. The map underneath was the style that i was trying to use.

no offense gimil but i support a revamp too but your poll should include an option of someelse other than you doing the revamp eg a competition or the likes - this is nothing against you personally or as an artist but i do think other map makers should also be given a shot at this one.

The main reason i would of liked to do it myself is becasue of the war it will cause. I dont see mayone who is willing to do it being able to put up with the stiff resistance. The main reason i was giving the revamp post was becasue i can handle the critisims that comes along with revamps.

As for competition? One definetly isnt a good idea for the classic map. Why? becasue the competitions are voted on for the most visually pleasing rather than taking into consideration what the best theme to replace the current is.

Imagine the classic was replaced with a canada REVAMP style.

Well i think there would be plenty of people interested in doing it. And also you could say that the map had to be revamped in the style of a board game to remove the possible canada situation,

Also we could have andy or a cartos ass. (if you are entering it would be a conflict of interest for you to check maps) checking all the entries and rejecting those that dont fit the style.

A competition with such conditions would cause more controvasy. Plus the revamp competitions only happen if the origonal carto doesnt reply to the revamp request. At a guess this doesnt apply to classic because it wasnt created under the foundry copyright agreement. So before anything was to happen a long discussion with lack would be needed.

Will everyone keep in mind that there is no plan a the moment to revamp classic, this is jsut a discussion of the potential idea.

as its only a discusssin of the idea at the moment then let it be that not whether gimil should be doing it or not - as i think a revamp is needed but im somewhat opposed to gimil doing it automatically. Wheere one person does the revamp it sometimes falls short of expectations and steps on multiple toes.

Also this is classic which is this site's signature map - that means it deserves the best of the best working on it. Most noobs will decide whether to stay or leave playing this map and this map only and a huge multitude of players never play any other map.
