Ain't that the truth sister. I only entered once, but I ran out of steam within a week; muy dissapointing.

I started in 2004 with a novel about a father and son during the crusades. Major flop. Learned a lesson, it's more than write what you know (because research takes too long; it's good for a real novel but not for NaNoWriMo) it's write what you can fake.

So I went for the quick sure kill in 2005, erotic fantasy. I start off with a neropolis, where the dead are burried but their shades linger on for a while so everyone makes day trips or overnight stays to visit their loved ones. Then I threw in a female hobbit druid who was literally a Dr. Ruth clone. Then I threw in a paladin, a female thief who was a member of a gang and a whole bunch of dead relatives who are trying to get their children married and the script actually wrote itself.

I would say the novel wrote itself but literally I had to keep a few notes because the characters were constantly suggesting plot twists as I was writing the novel.

Oh and it helps to have an emergency aside. Charcters who can give lectures or sermons to add a few thousand words are helpful. I had one prepared for the novel where the cleric gave a homily that life was like a novel.

In 2006 I took a different approach. I was heavily involved in a game called Nation States and had managed a few years of issue selections and role playing, so the novel also wrote itself with the colorful characters. Werepenguins in Antarctica who for the most part were from the military and who were divided into three families, Blonde, Brown and Red.

In 2007 I did some early research and worked on an old idea I had for D&D, a fantasy meets the American Revolution (although actually I had it set at 1750 which was the start of the French / Indian war). It was called "It's Revolutionary" and suffered only with the idea that one of the minor plots (kill the small dragon) became the major plot of the entire novel. Ironcially with D&D going into 4th edition I based the rules mostly on a similiar game called C&C (Castles and Crusades) which I got when I was at Gen Con last year, along with a module hand signed by Gary Gygax (who since passed away).

I tried doing script frezy this year but my schedule got booked so badly I only had a few days in the month to actually write. That was changed to 100 script pages but I only managed 18.

Ok, now you've stepped outside of the bar-fight roleplay and started flagrantly flaming.

I have no option but to report you to the relevant authorities.

You're a Clintonista, then?
Not necessarily.  I am aware of the politics in my country ... and the democratic race isn't decided yet.  It probably won't be decided until close to the convention,  when "super delegates" make their decisions. As a side note, even a lot of Amerians never knew about super delegates until this election.

And I owe you an apology ... for some reason, I had in mind that you were Australien.     You know as much as I, no doubt.

My dad once remarked to me that most of the electorate are too ill- informed to make a rational decision. His proposal was that there should be some sort of exam to make sure one knows what the issues are beofre one is allowed a vote.
Unfortunately, his scheme included the notion that "anyone who votes Tory is obviously an ignorant git and their vote shouldn't count", which might have led to some bias in the results...

So, you will essentially vote against Obama if he wins the candidacy, correct?

Look, it took awhile but I finally realized, voting for the lesser of two (or three in this case) evils, is STILL a vote for evil.

Here is how I see it:

There should be no way in hell McCain gets elected. With about 70% of the country wanting us OUT of Iraq. With Bush's approval rating at 30% and McCain being a 3rd term for Bush...come on get real.

I still have my doubts that there will be an election. We go to war with Iran late this summer, a "terrorist" attack ushering in martial law (no election), who knows.... but we shall see. All 3 candidates are POOR choices for President. And unless McCain has a heart attack, giving the nomination to Paul this country is in serious trouble!

And to address election fraud.... Obama is leading by DOUBLE digits in NH, Hillary goes on TV and "cries" and then she wins????! Yeah, ok. Not to mention the RP votes that were not counted (and documented). Just imagine what kind of election fraud is going on that we don't know about. We just accept what the media tells us..... so in reality..... the media is in control.
THE DEBATE IS OVER...

Unless McCain shows some signs of life... and his wife shows some signs of non-cosmetically altered facial features... I'm going to be writing in for Clinton.

IMHO, O'Bama is the democratic party's incarnation of Richard Nixon, packaged into an easy-to-swallow pill that tastes like John F. Kennedy.

If he didn't have the "establishment" supporting him in the far flung states (where establishment folks are just dying for their turn to be beltway insiders), his campaign would have died after New Hampshire. Did anyone read his campaign memo to the super delegates in the Times this morning, where he says that "just like the election will be decided by the electoral college, the nomination is decided by delegates and no voters". What a hack! This is the guy who is all "grass roots" up and down. If it's true and Clinton can't win, we'll see whether McCain can come up with a decent VP who might get him votes on grounds that he's likely to die in office. If that's the case, I just might vote for him

I'm just curious if you'll be willing to take back a lot of your accusations publically if there is in fact an election held in November of 2008. Will you then claim the results were rigged?
