Thezzaruz, I agree that that could be used as a solution and the two ideas can be merged. A list of trusted people you can place a request with.
One problem I can see with this method is starting tournament games. Most of the games I play are tournament games and although I try not to start tournies in the run to a period of absence, you cant gaurantee that they will be anywhere near finished in time. I am currently in one that started in December last year and the penultimate round may finish in the next 2 weeks and the last round will start while I am away, and after 6 months of fighting I would hate to have to forfeit my place.
