Kurt Schlinger (Hasbro CEO 1972-78) was allegedly a member of S.P.E.C.T.R.E. in the mid sixties, during which, S.P.E.C.T.R.E. were very keen on the whole of the word to be their own. This is where the idea for the game was born (In a dead volcano. with a retractable roof for helicopters, space lasers and ICMBs)

good, It seems to depend on the individual; how their brain processes the game and how they perceive the map. If it were an entirely new map, it would not hold the same intellectual dilemma for me.

Anyway, I know the original image so intimately that i can play it with a short-hand version of cogitative analysis. The new one interrupts that, it takes a concept which allows my brain to somewhat relax and upsets the balance.

I think it was smooth yet, somewhat sly with the change and reasoning! Especially after almost 3 years and now theres an issue with copyright lol. Im sure its just what you want.

I know I wont play it again and the masses agree?

Yes - I'm from the UK - but it actually kinda fits the layout quite well...

See i was thinking of something even more simple, like this

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=66838

but it seems we are not allowed to even discuss this in the foundry(which would be the logical place),and to be honest i'm surprised by the response it got from the mod, there was no whining or complaining, just honest discussion trying to figure out we we can do to sort the problem.

This isn't helping guys...

The site has decided that the Classic map has to come down... Lack appears to have decided that we're not going to be able to use a world map with the classic gameplay.

Please be patient, while we get our heads around what we're going to do next...

I'm afraid you got some bad information. According to twill, there's no issue with copyright. There's not even a POTENTIAL issue with copyright. What there is is action taken to AVOID potential copyright issues. Now that is truly something to lol about....lol and cry

Yep, me and my friends that play cc had a good laugh last night about how you get 2 armies for holding orange octagons on the classic map.

How about calling the map something like "Terraformed Mars" or "New Earth", keep all the connections identical, replace the planes with spaceships, slightly (just a bit) change the shape of the countries/continents and play with the names of the territories to come up with things New Britain and New New Quinea. :-k

Problem solved, Bob's your uncle, Fannies your Aunt.

all this shit can be resolved with paper and holes. All we need to do work out where we need holes on a paper classic map that we can stick to the screen (depending on the screen size) and then lack starts selling paper maps and sends them in the post.
It's win win Brian.
