Well now you can't say that. I've had a number of occasions. The last was when i helped a guy get into the Salvation Army rehab center. He agreed to go in if i would check on his house every night after 11 PM. His house is on the main drug corner in the Hollygrove neighborhood in New Orleans - ask someone from New Orleans about Hollygrove. The only reason i didn't take an automatic weapon and a couple grenades is that i was known in the neighborhood from my work at the community center, but i still had a sawed off shotgun, and needed it to run 3 crackheads (2 of which were armed) out of the house on the first night.

Those of you who are so vocal about gun control, have you ever done community service work in a bad neighborhood? If you would have agreed as i did to help an addict get clean by watching his house, would you have been naive enough to go in there without a gun? It's easy to sit back and judge from a safe, comfortable environment.

I staved off an attack by 2 guys once just by revealing my gun in my belt. Either I would have been beaten, or they would have (they were smaller than me, but aggressors nonetheless). either way, they got a reality check, I avoided physical confrontation, and they (hopefully) learned things may not always be what they seem.

Whether or not there are gun control laws, the criminals will have guns. So law abiding citizens should be allowed to defend themselves properly, which would mean they should be allowed to carry a gun too. Period. How can this be argued?

Guns are easy to own in most of America.

Is it an unfortunate situation? Sure.

Is it dangerous? It can be.

Does it act as a deterrent to criminals to use their guns? Probably.

But the bottom line is, the bad guys have them, so the good guys should have them too.

People will have a hard time grasping this concept....but it is good for them to know.

I completely agree. If I had a concealed carry permit, and the laws didn't permit me from having it at college in the classroom, and I had been a student at virgia tech, and if I had been in that class, then I would have shot that little shit that killed so many people before he could kill them all. And if I died in the process, at least I'd die knowing I saved the lives of others, instead of just sitting by and watching it happen.

I don't agree with you having a right to carry around a gun. Unless they have a license to carry one, folks don't need to be carrying around their guns unless there's wild Injuns or Frenchmen in the street.

The Constitution gives you the right to own one, and to carry one if you know your life could be in danger (unless you know someone, you'll go to jail on that one), but just to have one on you all the time? f*ck that - i personally know too many people that shouldn't get within 10 ft of a gun - i'll take my chances carrying illegally if the situation calls for it. If it's not important enough for you to risk a weapons charge, it's not important enough for you to be packin.

Mr. Uncle Sam Says:
I have the right to carry guns, and to control that it's stupid because bad guys don't do it. And if I carry a gun, it's because I'm possible gonna need it. And how I use a gun? not exactly to make me a coffe, but to take some bad guy life. Anyway, he must deserve a violent death, because is a Bad guy, and I have all my right to kill bad guys, to defend my family and my country. if I enjoy that, well, that's collateral, and stills within the law. And, how many guns it's enough to fell confortable and safe?. Well, all that you can affort. because bad guys don't go around with simple knifes and small revolvers. I mean, we must to have the right to own a battle tank, if we can pay that. (anyway, the weapons factories must be affected by the crisis, and they need our support). Every american has to be with a couple of rifles, bazookas to blow some evil enemies's asses. Or you preffer just look who that democracy enemies do that to our childrens??. and go further, we have to kill the evil nest itself, going with our heros to their countrys, that are just bastions where the enemy becomes stronger, and show them who is the good guy in the history, and bring their people the real paradise as we've gonna seen when we kill every bad guy in the world

And this is so obvious because, you are right and good and the others are bad and wrong.

That's great. There's a whole lot of "ifs" in there. But the fact of the matter is, you're in the 99.9 % of the population that wasn't at VT that day. And the same amount in all the other major shooting recently. If it helps you sleep at night knowing you "would have done something" even if you never will, more power to you. I'm going to actually going to try to protect people.

He's right. It would be dangerous if more people were walking around with guns. Other than the shooting spree scenario that someone else mentioned, in most situations the bad guy is gonna get the drop on you....so if you go for your gun, you're gonna get popped.

I see the gun as more useful in a home invasion/break-and-enter scenario. You hear the bad guys, get your gun, situate yourself in an advantageous position, and proceed however it makes sense. Either sitting tight and just worrying about protecting your family. Or yelling to them that they'd better leave or you're gonna shoot them. Or just shooting them without warning.

In related news, Miriam-Webster has just redefined the word "control", to be a synonym for "ban".

Aren't you from Columbia? If there is one place that has more gun problems than the U.S. (besides Somalia of course) it's Columbia. You guys are ruled by the drug cartels with their big bucks and private armies. There's fooking rocket launchers and claymore mines being used in the damn streets, and here you are trying to clean up our backyard. Why? So the cartels can come over here and rule us too once we give up our guns?

Yeah yeah i know, "you don't know nothing about my country". Buncha crazy fooking cokeheads.

But the concept of country changes along the time. I mean, for example, actual Texas was part of Mexico, so nationalism blindness can be just stupid
