It was. For some reason, in my class, we had to hypothesise on who we would get rid of if our class were ever stranded on a desert island, Lord of the Flies style.

That, and the teacher hated me.

It is a stupid island but it does have some nice forests, but I bet you didn't have to learn it for like 7 years there isn't that much Australian history so you tend to repeat the exact same things.

There really isn't. I was quite willing to stab someone if we had to plot out the routes of Bourke and Wills one more time...

Ha! I'm not going to stab anyone because of Bourke and Wills anymore, since Grade 8 SOSE is far behind me

Thank god I didn't do modern history though. I'm sure they can find some way to incorperate them into it...

The extent of useless crap everyone has to repeat is astronomical. So much knowledge and so little of it is practical. Its not till like the last 2 years of high school that we get more selective teaching and have more subject choice and even then only limited. A form of math and english is compolsury(sp), which is understandable but the way we choose subjects is really just stupid we have 4 boxes which has different subjects (not all the subjects are in each box only a few) written in them and you select one from each box, meaning no matter what chances are you won't get to do all the subject you want because of this the only subject I really enjoy is art (proper art with all the history and theory).

oh of course it is...

in truth, as much as the US has an oversized ego...we also are kinda trapped...

if we don't do something (Darfur comes to mind) we get in trouble...but if we are 'proactive' (Iraq, Afghanistan, all that) we are being bullies...

oh well, i still hate it here, and i'm moving as soon as i turn 18

 I would have done Ancient history if it wasn't for the aforementioned flawed subject choice system

well...the amount of stuff we repeat is kinda retarded...but at the same time, its kinda smart...cause we learn the basics...then we go a little deeper...and then we go really deep...so its kinda cool without overloading us...

Melbourne has a mafia, I recently discovered.

I've always wanted to live there though. So much colder and more interesting than Townsville.
