The wife and daughter are away tonight for a girly expedition, so all the lads have come back for a laddish sleepover.
I left them playing video games for a while. One by one they passed the tv I was watching and sat down and joined me.

College life Day 3: Well, things are pretty cool around here. I've been trying to post here every now and then while exploring the campus and hanging out with friends, and so far everything is going great. I know where all my classes are and just about everything is within walking distance from my dorm.

I promised a day or three ago, in the face of various RustyMonkey etc threads, to tell a true and interesting story in the same vein.

Now I'm not looking for advice, this was all over many years ago, this is just for amusement.

This happened while I was single, inbetween getting the hell out of my first marriage and meeting the perfect woman that I'm still married to.

A bunch of us, some married, some not, used to hang around together a lot. There was a fairly regular fixture on our calendars once a month or so when we'd all go to this girl's house (let's call her "Mandy"). She had the best TV of us all, and we'd rent a few movies on a particular theme, mainly fairly cheesy ones, and all sit about drinking, smoking, and just chilling.

Well, it comes to New Year's Eve. Mandy has a big big party, we all go, I get very intoxicated, somehow I end up doing the dirty deed with Mandy. Mandy, incidentally, is grossly overweight and not, normally, for me, a turn-on. (Her 2nd - floor bedroom floor broke once from over-enthusiastic lovemaking. For real.) The aftermath of this is that I'm terribly embarrassed, and desperate to find a way to indicate that this was a one-off, I don't want to know but it doesn't mean that I don't want us both to be part of the circle of friends, etc.

So, come the next party at Mandy's place, I go but deliberately act cool towards her. When it comes time to dance, and she's sidling towards me and giving me the eye, I hastily ask another girl to dance (let's call this one Mary). She's safe: she's Mandy's next-door neighbour, and happily married to a very decent guy I've often met at the film nights.

During the evening, each time Mandy gers too close, I choose the safe option and dance with Mary.

About 1 am, Mary drags me outside and starts getting very intimate. We kiss and canoodle quite a lot, but my conscience forces me to say [tie to "kiss" thread, where I said, haven't you ever been in the "we shouldn't be doing this" situation], "your husband is about ten feet away(in her house), and possibly listening.You're drunk, and I think you're caught up in the heat of the monent. If we did it right now like you want to, you'd regret it and perhaps you'd never forgive yourself. Maybe your husband wouldn't either.".

Eventually, despite the urgings of her (and my willy), she went home and so did I.

The next day I met my friend Kevin in the pub. He knows me, Mandy, and Mary very well.
" I've got some news for you" says he.

There is something ominous about the way he says this.

It turns out that the news is that, when Mary got home, she woke her husband up, and told him the whole story. Apparently he says "Fine, I'll move out and Jonesthecurl can move in. Tomorrow".

Frankly, I just hid in my flat (US people, read "apartment") for several moths, not frequenting any of the places I normally went to, until I felt that it had probably blown over.

Sometimes I wonder how Mary and her hubby got on after that. I never saw them again. I moved, Mandy moved, and somehow Mandy never gave Mary the new address.

Just got off. I had 4 classes today (I made my schedule so that I would only have morning classes on Thursday and no classes on Friday). So far everthing is alright though it's been very tiring.

I was taking the bus to school by myself by grade two...

I walked to school by myself as a kindergartner. No lie. I even accepted a ride to school one time from some guy I didn't know. Simpler times back then, but obviously still not recommended... even in the 70's.

I was walking to school by myself in grade one, but it was about a 15 minute walk through a residential neighbourhood...

Yeah, that would kind of suck. Not because of the exercise portion but having to get up so much earlier so that you can make it to school on time.

When I was about 6 I used to walk to school, and my friend Sharon, who lived on the corner of the street the school was on, often used to be late.
I said, how can you be late, you live about 100 foot away?
She said, if you're late you can run to make up time. How much time can I make up by running?

I walked to school in High School, Junior High, and even a couple times last year. Though, walking 3 miles to go to an hour long class which takes an hour an a half to get to it, just really isn't worth the blisters in 15 degree weather.
