Seriously though, there's a reason why we have a thing called "Inbox" and "Private Messaging."

strike wolf wrote:This is the second or third time Victor's said it. I think it may be apparent from my lack of comment on it but I don't buy into it very much. This honestly just seems like something victor would do to just be victor and if he is trying to send messages, he's kind of airmailing it in a very odd way.

This. I mean, I don't trust Victor one bit, but I've spent some time on those comments and I've really wasn't able to find too much in them except a few things about roles (That Yuffie is a thief (very valid conclusion) and that Cait is a double-voter (Less so, but still possible)) and if I'd have to think that something was supposed to be engraved in those messages, I'd guess that it was supposedly a message from Victor, that he knows other townies, but even that is very far-fetched. I really do feel that it's best to move on from that at least for now - later something else may emerge, but as of now, unless someone finds a code there, we'll just be back to saying all the things that have been said when he first posted them.
But... It was so artistically done.

This stuff reminds me of some old comedy sketches:
"I know what you're thinking."
"I know that you know what I'm thinking."
"I know that you know that I know what you're thinking"
"I know that you know that I know that you know what I'm thinking."

So maybe Doom was trying to be a vigilant townie by asking for a rollcall. Or maybe he knew it would seem townie, so he was actually being scummy. Or maybe he knew that it would seem scummy by being too townie, and he's actually townie. Or maybe he knew it would seem too scummy, and that we would conclude it's therefore too obvious and disregard it, and he's actually scummy. Round it round it goes.

The trouble with this progression, is that no matter where on the roulette wheel the ball lands, you still have a 50/50 chance of being wrong. You can let the wheel spin for 10 seconds, 10 hours, 10 days, or 10 millennia, and at the end the ball will still drop into either a black or a red spot and you will STILL have a 50/50 chance of being wrong. It's not the kind of odds I'd want to bet my life on.

We call it WIFOM. Besides, basically we've already said that the whole thing alone really isn't worthy enough of lynch - it's just noteworthy.
But... It was so artistically done.

Just letting you all know that in all likeliness, there will not be any posts from me during the next 3 days or so. That's all.

Interesting. I guess I should have realized I wouldn't come up with any insights that weren't already obvious. Back to watching and learning.

Incidentally, I went up to the info subforum (http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=609&t=87345#p2025730) to find out what WIFOM means, and it directs to a broken link.

While I was there, I found FOS which I had already seen a few times in this thread, and hadn't gotten around to looking up. Found out it means "Finger of Suspicion." All this time I thought it meant "Full of Shit."

I love WIFOM, and I tend to agree with commander that it is something to be noted in later rounds and continuance would prove to be more of a tell tale point than the first day

Same.

I won't be enforcing a deadline during the holidays, but if the game does not pick up in the beginning of January I'll establish one.

What precisely defines the end of a day? Seems like it's been Day One since the beginning of time.

Apparently this message was needed and I had so much reading to do

To be fair, Rodion, I do think that a flexible deadline could be pretty nice right now.

Let's try a soft deadline at January 5, noon (EST). If people start to become active after the holidays, I'll change the deadline.

Alright this thread has kind of died down has it not?

brief notes on the various topics:

Doomyoshi: His list may or may not be the best thing for town at this point. It may even be something that could be used for easy brownie points but I do not at this point feel it is worth looking into.

inactives: There's a multitude of them.

Victor Sullivan: People seem to be saying he's soft claiming but they can't conclusively lock onto who he's soft claiming saying it could be more than one person. This makes me think that he is not actually soft-claiming and this is just victor being victor.

umm...well...I know I had more to say...I should probably reread some stuff...

I'll try to keep up on it until then, but I don't know if I'll be online much between now and 1/9 or so. I should have time to drop by for a beat, and I'll note anything I see. But at this point, I'll chime in along with everyone else that I don't really see anything suspicious. Or at least not suspicious enough to put a vote on.

Happy New Year everyone!

I guess everyone has been inactive really...

I mostly agree with everything that strike said. Haven't heard from many people in a while. Hard to make a day 1 case in the midst of a holiday with no posting.

If no one presents a case, I submit that we should pressure an inactive person. I'm sure there will be many to choose from.

Rodion, maybe you could just give everyone a little prod and remind them of this game?

Oh i remember one of the things I was going to say. It's kind of frustrating because it's gotten to that point where the flavor activity excuse is no longer valid for dismissing submarining cases but now we've gotten to the point where the holidays are the excuse. =D>
