I'm not a fan of smoking anything, weed especially. I'm an advocate for legalizing it, but I still wouldn't use any. I can act retarded, think deep, etc. without outside stimulus. I don't drink either, or really take in much caffeine. Almost all my friends from high school drink and or smoke weed now, and I'm personally disappointed with it. I don't plan on telling them that, or changing high school friends (since that's impossible now) but it just makes me kind of sad. I'm just not super comfortable with drugs or alcohol. I've thought about it before, but my conclusions were always to not do it. I just don't see the point. I can do everything they're doing without the drug stimulus just fine.

You sound wiser than your years. It's a shame HS is so clickish and that stupid stuff can get in the way... but you're just getting warmed up. You will appreciate being mentally and physically intact when the next chapters of your life are revealed. The best parts aren't even here yet.

You'll all be very pleased to know that it is another month on and I still haven't bought any weed!

Positive effects:

1. I've won 16 of my last 20 cc games. (most important for the GD regular)
2. I'm getting on better with my wife. (naturally less important than the wins for the GD regular!!)
3. I actually wrote some extremely funny stuff sober...(quite important for keeping me off the weed...I was worried about that)
4. I'm in general much happier, less paranoid, doing my job better too.
5. My appetite has come back and am back to my perfect weight.
6. I only smoke now when spoon pops over for some Halo action...just a quick hoof on a pipe about twice a week...and I enjoy the high much more now.

Negative effects:

1. I really miss rolling a joint on my balcony (with the perpetual sunshine of Changsha streaming in), curling up on my sofa...yep I put a sofa on my balcony...and reading a good book for an hour or two. I've always loved reading high. This is a big miss.
2. I still can't enjoy playing computer games sober. So my 360 lies dormant and basically unloved.
3. I miss walking about Changsha blitzed*. When high it takes on all the properties of a video game..dodging cars, buses, taxis, obstacles, falling masonry. Now it is just simply frightening... it used to be fun.
4. I miss playing speed games...almost every speed game I have ever played I have been either very drunk, hugely stoned or, on a couple of memorable occasions, totally blitzed* on ecstacy.
5. I miss watching tv (online tv in China naturally). Again, without the weed I can't keep my attention on them. Watching the latest season of Doctor Who and I REALLY WISH I was watching it high. So much better high.
6. I'm caring about my rank again (notice the 16 in 20 wins) and this is a pity...I'll zip up to around 3,000, have a masochistic impulse, collapse my rank, regret it...and probably start smoking up again.

Life is a fucking cycle.

Isn't the penalty for foreigners buying and using weed in China, like, severe beyond all reason? A far cry from the slap on the wrist most western countries give you. I find it amusing when people talk about the risk being too great. I got caught with weed and a paraphernalia, all that came of it was a 150$ fine and I was banned from a mall for 6 months. But in China it's a dangerous game you are playing.

In actual fact, people take drugs routinely here in public places, the police couldn't give less of a shit (certainly about what we foreigners get up to) and even if you did somehow find yourself in front of a cop who 1. recognised what you were up to and 2. cared enough to bring you in (and btw I have never even heard of anyone being caught here) the most you would get is a fine/bribe and would be sent on your way.

However, if you were dealing in reasonably large quantities of say heroin then they would shoot you.

You see the one thing you haven't realised (and it is quite important) is that the police and government here are absolutely up to their necks in prostitution, drugs, trafficking and a multitude of other nefarious things. Therefore, the only busts that go down involve businessmen who haven't paid whatever bribes had been expected...and they are usually reported on the news as cases of 'China tackling corruption/prostitution/drugs etc etc. The little chap who is visiting the prostitute or taking the drugs is so far under the radar as to be a complete irrelevence...the authorities here (and I'm talking about local government) are all in favour of these things...they bring in cash.

I prefer this method as it has not only knocked my ass on the floor but those in my immediate surroundings as well. "Praise be to the SPOON!" Take a gallon milk jug, a bucket of water, a bowl from the stem of your favorite water pipe, and your shax. Remove the bottom portion of the jug, insert the bowl through the lid of the jug, and make sure it is sealed either with wax or tape. Place the jug in the water, and then place the lid on. Pack, light, slowly pull the jug up and watch the milky smoke fill the contraption. Careful..... Careful.... don't push down as it will force the air back up through the bowl and blow the plant material out (huge fowl)... Remove the lid slowly; place lips over the spot and inhale as you slowly push the jug down, forcing the THC into the lungs. Hold, release and cough.... prudently stumble to the floor and bake and stew in your thoughts for a bit.... then video games/Doritos and enjoy!

It's like, weed should be smoked slowly, savouring it, chilling out with friends, etc... Not just blasted in your lungs so you'll be all fucked up.

We used to do that gravity bong thing when we were kids, it seemed cool back then, but now that I'm older, it just seems silly... no offense to anyone who likes it, this is just my personal opinion.

I consider it silly because its messing with your brainchemistry. (alcohol does that too, and I consider that a drug as well. in fact i'd like to see everybody who causes an accident with aclohol or drugs to be charged with attemted murder)

Well, pretty much everything messes with your brainchemistry one way or another. You take a cup of coffee, it messes with your brainchemistry. You eat red meat, it messes with your brainchemistry. Tons of foods contain stuff that messes with your brainchemistry.

In truth, your brainchemistry is being messed with every day. Maybe not in similar ways as cannabis, but still.

You can even mess with your brainchemistry without any substance intake - if you get a burst of adrenaline when you're in an intense situation (fight or flight response) your brainchemistry is being messed with. If you do sports, your brainchemistry gets messed with by endorphins. When you have sex, your brainchemistry is being messed with in a big way.

When you sleep, and dream... oh boy, that messes with your brainchemistry.

Cannabis also messes with your brainchemistry, but the effect is not permanent if used responsibly and not too often. It causes an alternate state of mind, and it can be beneficial for many things. It can give you perspective - you'll see everything as sort of caricatures of themselves, you'll be able to laugh to things you normally would stress about - which can be very therapeutic.

Of course, there's harmful side-effects if you use it excessively, but what substance (drug or otherwise) doesn't? Pretty much everything is harmful if taken in excess.

Note that I'm not posting this to get you to try weed or anything, I'm simply stating my view on the issue, and why I think it's silly to call cannabis silly. This is all my opinion, and you're free to disagree with it.

That's sort of a broad generalisation... Are you talking about car accidents? In that case I agree, nobody should operate heavy machinery or drive a car under the influence of any drug. But other accidents... I don't think you can generalize them, it always depends if the accident happened because the person was under influence.

I am pro legalisation of softdrugs though, with a state monopoly/ state permit system ofcourse, but everybody has the right to mess themselves up any way they like, and more importantly, it helps to decrease crimes, increases awareness, brings in taxes, greater controbility and there are legal’drugs’ that have a much greater negative impact in the community.

And yes I was talking about auto-accidents, so I think we agree on that point of view. Being under the influence and using heavy machinery = fail.
