I honestly thought it was sort of obvious. The Points "earned" are the Points Scored for the end results of the game, as shown in the "Terminator Points Summary" for each game.. So the Points you get are based on who you eliminate and who eliminates you.
Just so I understand, why has bernooch advanced, not emilywink?
I sum their Round 1 + round 2 totals to be -25 and -6, respectively.
Also, the original rules only mentioned the points won... not the points lost. Adding both gives a big advantage to lower ranked players. It also makes the divide between the leaders (100 to 113 points) and the "second tier" competitors (-25 to 65 points).
I apologize for not responding earlier to Man from Modesto's comments above. I just overlooked it. Below is my response:
1st. Maybe - Points Earned may have been better than Points Won. But the intent I think was understood - at least by most.
2nd. Points do not carry over from Round to Round. I did not specify that in the rules, but I also did not say they would.
3rd. In Round 1 bernooch had -13 points and emilywink had 8 points. Both Players advanced to Round 2.
4th. In round 2 bernooch had -12 points and emilywink had -14. Because they were in the same game and only the 3 Players with the most points advanced, emilywink ended up in 4th place. If either player had been in another group, neither would have advanced with those points.
5th. This style of scoring definitely favors a lower ranked player. It requires the higher ranked players to play that much better. However, in another similar style Tournament, a Major won the Tourney. In one other Tournament using the same style, I won 2 of the final games, however, a private won 1 game and won the Tournament. Just the way it works.
