Pretty sure prescription drugs aren't illegal anyway.

But they are drugs. So basically pharmaceutical company can sell drugs?? Is marijuana a drug or a plant? Is Viagra a pill or a drug?

Are these the sorts of things you stand on street corners shouting during morning rush hour?

They are if you don't have a prescription.

Just like in China, right? I guess they don't have a drug problem there because they just give you a "shot" that cures your drug addiction once and for all.

So... decriminalize everything regarding drugs, eh?
Anyone can manufacture them? I'm sure there will be no problems with quality or potency.
Anyone can sell them? Doesn't matter where they got it, who they sell it to, or how it's labeled? Let the buyer beware, right?
Anyone can possess or use them however they want? I'm sure there will be no problems with self-medication or overdosing.

Excuse me, I have to make a quick stop at the CVS for some Rohypnol. I've got a hot date tonight. While I'm there, maybe I'll pick up something to slip into my Boss's coffee. He's been riding me pretty hard lately, and really needs to chill the f*ck out. I wonder what the maximum non-lethal dose is?

I'm sure none of this would be a problem. We already have plenty of laws against drugging people, date rape and murder, right? There's no need to inconvenience law-abiding drug users practicing their constitutionally protected right to pursue happiness.*

I like the graph at the bottom which shows that Portugals fall in drug use matches similarly to other nations and may in fact have more to do with the economic crash than anything else.

But nevermind.

You're absolutely right, I bet there're millions of potential date rapists out there who have only been held back by the messy legality of rohypnol. Thank goodness there's those millions of money-sucking DEA and police who are focused on keeping drugs off the streets.

In case you weren't aware, it's already "buyer beware" out there. It's not like banning drugs has solved the problem at all. All it's done is fund more institutions like police and prisons. You can decriminalize drugs while still banning the actual problem behaviors, like selling to minors or using drugs as coercion and such. Believing that if we decriminalize drugs will lead to some sort of biblical chaos is buying into the propaganda of those who stand to lose billions of dollars.

So if I put a "safe" sticker on it and say I'm from the pharmaceutical company its safe?? Or maybe FDA approved?

I am not in favor of sending people to prison for using drugs, but a statement like "all drugs [ought] to be decriminalized" is pretty broad. It doesn't suggest any form of rehabilitation, or any limit to what is allowed. If drugs are decriminalized, is selling drugs also decriminalized? What about manufacturing drugs? If someone makes a blanket statement like that without any specifics, then I feel free to make whatever interpretations I like, and they can indicate which ones they disagree with.

Did you include the wrong link, mrswdk? I was expecting to see how "the best great power ever" handles drugs, so that we all could learn from their humanitarian example.

I'd favor all drugs being treated the way alcohol and tobacco currently are (with age limits equivalent to those in continental Europe).

Probably why they have the lowest birthrate in Europe as well, even lower than Greece! If you look how the demographics are changing, guns won't be needed to behead these kind of problems.

In the US, they're both sold in stores if you're above the legal age. You can use them in public (with some restrictions) or go to specific businesses to buy and use them. Businesses need various permits and/or licenses to import, manufacture and sell them, and they are regulated by the FDA.

Would you have this apply to all drugs now, including prescription medications?

Banning guns wouldnt do much to solve the actual problem. The real question that should be investigated, is why do so many Americans feel that it is necessary to own a gun?

The investigating has already been done on the dark and tyrannical history of humanity.

The entirety of western europe feels zero need to own a defensive weapon. So clearly this logic doesnt stand, there has to be a cultural reason.

Phatscotty has made me want to grab a gun and mow down some Americans. I think we've solved the mystery.

Giving up already? Why you running from the conversation?

Again, is it that no European country has ever been conquered why nobody 'in the entirety of Western Europe' (as if you know that for a fact??) feels the need to own a gun?

Is your argument that American citizens need guns in order to ensure America does not get invaded?
