I hate people who think humans are infallible (or at least 'perfect' in our behavior), and that we are in no way tied to animals.

You and your digressions... well, the thread is obviously not quite lively in discussion of the original topic, so let's digress. Common traits in animals include eukaryotic cells, multicellularity, and multiple tissue layers. Since we have these characteristics, would that not "tie" us to animals?
