mcshanester29 takes over for Ned Ryerson

Post by WorldCup4James »

-mcshanester29 takes over for inactive Ned Ryerson of the Doodle Earth division. Player's schedules have remained the same; they will now simply be facing a different opponent. His "score when joining" has been incorporated in place of Ned Ryerson's score.

Terrific; I've added the win to the standings board. Just 20 more to ensure the #1 seed for the Elimination Round...

I have kicked off Round 2 for the WWII Poland Division and the Madagascar division, since they have finished Round 1.
My goal is to keep the tournament going at a quick pace while not letting any divisions to get ahead of each other.

Status from the World 2.1 Division. Just FYI my game (finally) ended with myself as the winner. Hopefully the rest of the division wasn't too anxious waiting for us; looking at the other three games some of the game have been over for almost a week! Sorry guys!

Don't worry about it, insomniacdude, we're already at a pretty good pace thus far! See you on the battlefield (next game, actually)!

shoop76 win

Thanks for letting me know ahead of time, DJENRE.

All divisions have now finished Round 1. Since Doodle Earth, Madagascar, Soviet Union, and WWII Poland divisions are already underway in Round 2, I am making Round 2 for Germany, World 2.1, and San Francisco. Invites will be sent shortly.

[Standings updated. Your rank number may have changed since I found I made an error.]

Game on! Have fun in round 2! If you lost in round 1, just keep in mind 27 other players lost as well...

Standings Updated.
Round 3 for the Doodle Earth division has started. Now just waiting on one more game for those in World 2.1 division till we start the next round.
Please be sure to occasionally check if I wrote down the correct win-loss record on the standings for you, as it is possible that I make a mistake, even though I double-check often.
Thanks, James

Many players were a bit perplexed by the scoring system. Since some of the divisions are ahead of others, some players have the same number of wins, but then one player has more losses since that player has simply played more games.

Doesn't it make sense to give the player that has played less game but still has won the same number of games the higher rank? Yes.

This is a bit nit-picky, in the end it won't matter since everyone will have played the same number of games (at that point, players would be ranked by Score Upon Joining, with any ties resolved with Playoff Games).

[spoiler=Scoring System]Throughout the first 3 stages, players will be ranked by number of wins, with the player having the most number of wins ranked highest, and the player with the fewest number of wins ranked lowest. The divisions will not all be playing at the same pace; as a result, if player(s) have the same number of wins, they will be ranked by number of losses, with the player(s) having less losses ranked higher than the player(s) having more losses. If players have both the same number of wins and the same number of losses, they shall be ranked according the Score Upon Joining. The player(s) having the higher Score Upon Joining will be ranked higher than the player(s) having the lower Score Upon joining.[/spoiler]

Round 4 made for World 2.1 Division.

System?

Post by WorldCup4James »

Standings updated.

I have come up with an alternate method of Selecting the Divisions, since we have almost finished 7 game rounds.
I will let the players choose which they like. You may vote at the poll at the top of the page:

I: Keep the Selection of Divisions system the same: Players post their list of preferred divisions on the tournament page at or after the date and time the organizer establishes; first come first serve. This will most likely take place on a Saturday.

II: Select Divisions by rank: 1st place selects division, then 2nd place selects division, then 3rd place selects division, etc.

Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages; I'd like to see how the players feel.

Thanks for voting, will be making next rounds by the end of the day.

The next round of games has been made for all divisions except the Madagascar Division, which is awaiting the completion of [game]8729946[/game].

PLEASE NOTE that I am allowing players to VOTE about the format of the Selection of Divisions, which will take place after all divisions complete 7 rounds. See the previous post for the two options, and please provide your input!

We welcome wrexham to the tournament, who has boldly accepted the challenge to join the tournament, taking over for stokiepaul in the Madagascar division! Good luck to you! All players in the Madagascar who would've faced stokiepaul will now face wrexham.

His score upon joining has been incorporated into the rank of players, so you're seed # (the colored number in parenthesis) may have changed, but it has had minimal effect on the standings).
