Both teams are terrific and it was a great Series,
quite the offensive explosion tonight though.

Texas was definitely the sleeper in the playoffs. All the talk was about the Yanks, Phils, Detroit, Tampa, Cards and Brewers. Diamondbacks and Rangers weren't talked about at all...I guess everyone thought that without Lee they wouldn't be as good.

If I was the Rangers, I'd much rather face the inexperienced Brewers. As good as Braun has been this season, Pujols is a god and LaRussa is a great manager.

The Brew Crew needs a major rally...
bottom of the 8th, down 6 runs.

At least I was right about the team that matters! I still pick Cardinals in 7 for the World Series.

Lets analyze position by position:

Pos------Texas--------------Cardinals
C-------- Napoli--------------Molina :!:
1B-------Young---------------Pujols :!:
2B-------Kinsler :!:----------Punto
3B-------Beltre :!:-----------Hairston
SS-------Andrews :!:---------Furcal
LF-------Chavez--------------Holliday :!:
CF-------Hamilton :!:--------Jay
RF-------Cruz-----------------Bergman :!:

Possible Match-ups:

CJ Wilson vs Carpenter
Holland vs Lohse
Lewis vs Garcia
Ogando vs Jackson ?

anyone disagree?

Napoli/Molina is close.

St. Louis has better pitching, though.

And if Texas wins: Bye Albert Pujols!

Re: World Series

Finally... the World Series is just a couple hours away
and after all the sportscaster chatter we get see how
it actually plays out. The question is...
Big Bats or Pitching & Defense?

I'm kind of hoping this is an offensive series.

lol@baseball for not letting Dirk throw out the first pitch. What a bunch of squares.

Anyway, I'd definitely take pitching and defense over big bats.

A good game last night, key hits sealed it, but it wasn't an offensive showing
by either side. Now if the Rangers can just get the split tonight...

I want to have Yadiel's children. The guy can't swing the bat, he's hurt, but he draws a walk. Impressive.

That loss was epically painful. A 2-0 lead would have been huge.

That was painfully close to a deja vu of Game 1 and the split keeps it interesting. I don't think Texas has dropped consecutive ballgames since early August.

A lot of strong pitching and defense so far, even with both Bull Pens
giving up some critical hits late.

Ogando was lights out against Detroit and has shown nothing against the Cardinals. Pujols was imitating Godzilla last night. It was nice of Washington to pitch to him that final at bat and let him take a third pitcher deep.

Harrison wasn't pitching that bad and it sucked when the 1st base ump blew the call on the double play "tag by Napoli" in the top of the fourth inning, allowing a 4 run Card's rally. That was a real game changer.

Game Three looks like a football score.

They just keep showing Nolan Ryan, I get a hard one every time. It's hard for me to watch the game like this.

So, 8 starters came and went, an the series is tied 2-2. It's time for C.J. Wilson to redeem himself, otherwise Carpender and Garcia might deliver a WS to St. Louis.
