If the setup is based on cartoon, there are probably 4 scumsters around including Scar, Mufasa's evil brother and three Hyenas as I already said in the pre-game.

OK Fircoal, let me explain to you how a Mafia game works:

On one side, you have a few players, who are called: Mafia. These players know who all the Mafia players are and, by process of elimination, they can conclude that all the other players (for example nagerous or Ga7) are Town or some third party.

On the second side you have the majority the players who are called Townies. Each individual Townie, only knows he himself is a Townie and nothing else. For all they know, any other player could be a part of Mafia, from always honest nagerous to perpetually plotting Ga7.

On the third side you have the players who belong to Third Party. They party a lot and are generally agreeable sort of people who don't mind lending you their umbrella or helping you trim those nose hairs that you can't get a good angle on.

Of these three groups, only the first group, the Mafia, don't need to scumhunt (unless it's raining or their nose has started to look like Den Of Black Spaghetti).

Thus, when you say that you don't need to scumhunt, you are de facto claiming that the Town should vote to hang you by your perfectly groomed nostrils.

Yes in most cases this is correct but I don't think you realize. It's just as if a cop was told someone was mafia they know this for a fact. While it is always wise to look into other cases they know who their #1 target for the lynch should be. I am in this same position. I know that you're scum thusly I don't need to try to find other scum right now. I'll be wise and listen but it's only day 1 and there has yet to be anything that even sniffs at a compelling case. Meanwhile it's clearly obvious by all measures that you are scum. There is no other rational play that I could make except for to vote you!
