Richard the Lionheart, Saladin, William the Conquerer, Barbarossa, Rommel, and Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. Good commander, Yamamoto, just had no choice but to attack Pearl Harbor (he didn't want to, as he knew it would be disastrous for the Japanese). Then you also have Nodunaga Oda, Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, and several other commanders from those times (whose names escape me).

Hitler actually made a number of huge blunders. Had he listened to his generals the world may have turned into a very different place.

Hitler had some brilliant people underneath him, Rommel included, but in and of himself he was not a military genuis. Quite the opposite in fact.

Hannibal was good, but at Zama, they both had about 40,000 troops or so, but Hannibal had elephants as well, just that the Roman troops opened up paths for the elephants to run straight through, making them about harmless.
