You aren't being asked to put up with it, there are 'foe' and 'ignore' buttons.. If you have BOB installed the game chat is far down the page so you really have to make an effort to read the chat.stahrgazer wrote:
Your assumption that I'm taking comments 'seriously' is off base. I DISLIKE nasty comments whether I take them seriously or not, and shouldn't be forced to put up with it.
The problem with having people with the power to discipline them is it's nearly impossible to control. Have you played any video games online with a headset? There is so much profanity and ill mannerism everywhere. I am certainly not supporting it, I am just saying when you kill one ant, two more pop up somewhere else. It would be unrealistic for administrators to deweed every single rude individual on any website.stahrgazer wrote: If I went to a restaurant and some other customer came up to harass me, and if a "please stop," didn't work, I could consult an employee or the manager of that restaurant who would then deal with the harasser, not hand me a set of earplugs or tell me to "suck it up." If I did get handed earplugs or were told to "suck it up, you wuss" I'd likely not return to the restaurant. This is the same thing.
As for the children.. someone in power needs to address their behavior to curb it in them and others.. and if that doesn't work, then perform the equivalent of tanning their behinds.
i find stupid playing very insulting... should we then banned or at least temporary suspend anyone who plays stupid?!korda1 wrote:A recomendation to make the gamming more respectfull. Only in a few days in playing here I have seen and read very inapropiate laguaje. There should be a code of conduct and insulting a player should be observed at least.
Penalties should apply, temporary suspension or banning for over spamming.
I have played other online games, and I think this is one addition that could improve here.
Thanx, P
but cc doesnt offer that as a service.Timminz wrote:Stahr is paying CC for the meanies to curse at her.hwhrhett wrote:im a lil confused, who is paying who to curse at them? i dont get it.

No. It's a free gift.hwhrhett wrote:but cc doesnt offer that as a service.Timminz wrote:Stahr is paying CC for the meanies to curse at her.hwhrhett wrote:im a lil confused, who is paying who to curse at them? i dont get it.
There's a difference between occasional trash talk and intentional nastiness.ronc8649 wrote:unbelievable! to answer your question as far as paying to be insulted............
this is the answer you are ignoring! that you dont want to hear!
if it truly bothers you when someone goes off on a rampage. you foe them! it is as easy as that.
if flame wars bothered you, then you shouldnt have entered the forum in the first place.
those are easy ass answers to your questions that my nephew could have figured out.
this is the internet! a gaming site! have you ever watched a football game? a basketball game? a boxing match? an MMA fight? there is trash talking in every game known to man!
legendary quote from larry bird in the locker room before the 3 point contest. "which one of you assholes is going to finish 2nd"?
if you have a game, or a gaming site, trash talk will happen.
if you cant realize that, then leave! why are you still here? THIS IS NOT CUTESY CLUB. no matter what the mods/admins try to do, people will continue to bash others on here. now they cant say go to flame wars. now, they are banning people.
which do you think will bring in more money?

Actually, it does. Look at all these people who say to EXPECT the nastiness.. that's the same as saying, that's part of what CC offers. It's just no longer offered in a special forum for those who enjoy that part of what CC offers.Timminz wrote:No. It's a free gift.hwhrhett wrote:but cc doesnt offer that as a service.Timminz wrote:Stahr is paying CC for the meanies to curse at her.hwhrhett wrote:im a lil confused, who is paying who to curse at them? i dont get it.

I beg to disagree. I actually think if they make this site "nice", it would get rid of the most entertaining part. I agree with your whole mod thing, probably from a different perspective...I actually think they are making the site too nice. But that's a whole other discussion...stahrgazer wrote:

foelist only works AFTER.
I never participated in flame wars.
Mods are only banning the people they WANT to ban.
I believe that making the site nicer would bring more people in and keep more people in; if more people like me spoke up in SPITE of people like you, admin would know it.

Keep dreaming, I'm here for the long-run sweetcakes.hwhrhett wrote:
flame wars has only been gone like a month. give em more time, and all the trolls will have expired all their slaps-on-the-wrist.... but i dont think that the average person posting in this thread is indicitive of conquerclub as a whole, salr and ron are more indicitive of the reason that flame wars was closed to begin with... too much negativity seeping into the other forums... but just like after wicked threw her fit, they will give up and shut up or go away

Woodruff wrote:Serious question for you. If you actually believe this site is that way, then why are you still here? I'm not trying to push you out or anything...I mean the question sincerely. The moderators are the ones making the threats in the foundry.
Hey Adolf, Eichmann is throwing my Jewish friends into concentration camps, can you help me?
Oh, it took more than six months before I got "sensitive" about the nastiness.salr15 wrote:
There is no real solution to your problem. The only way to really stop trash talking and foul language is for the mods to either check all the games all the time...which is impossible. Or they would have to make a drastic move, as they did with FW, and eliminate game chat. How else will they be able to stop every single person on this site? And most people aren't as sensitive as you, as you can see from people's reactions.

Stahrgazer, you know I agree almost entirely with you on this subject. But I really don't think salr15 was doing that at all. He wasn't saying you were the bad guy, he was saying you were letting the bad guys ruin your fun. Of course, correct me if I'm wrong, salr15.stahrgazer wrote:Your comments are not respectful, they're a mild form of harassment; you're essentially trying to criminalize me for others' nastiness because I don't happen to like it. No offense dude but you are SOFT! Wow, you quit the site because people were insulting you??![]()
I mean this in the most respectful way....grow a set.
Well, mostly because what I'm paying for (the games themselves and the friendships) makes up for the negatives. To me, it's a cumulative "good", even though there is plenty of "bad" around. If that makes sense.stahrgazer wrote:No one has been able to answer this repeated question: why should anyone PAY to be insulted and cursed at if they don't like being insulted or cursed at?
Absolutely correct.stahrgazer wrote:It takes more balls for people to stand up for what's right, especially when it's unpopular, than to tolerate what's wrong.
It seems to be a fringe benefit.hwhrhett wrote:but cc doesnt offer that as a service.Timminz wrote:Stahr is paying CC for the meanies to curse at her.hwhrhett wrote:im a lil confused, who is paying who to curse at them? i dont get it.
I believe that's correct. Stahrgazer's problem is NOT with FlameWars at all, as I understand things.hwhrhett wrote:p.s.s. i thought you quit cc before flame wars was even deleted stahr?
I think I might know why he thinks that.ronc8649 wrote:i dont know why hewett thinks i bring negativity here....
....hrhewett, get a life dude. dont use my name like you know me.
This makes an interesting point to counter those who think "foelist" works. You see, I have hwhrhett on my foelist. Obviously, foelist didn't stop me from having to see whatever he's saying, since Woodruff repeated it. So if hrhett were to say something totally nasty (as he has in the past, which I reported, and was told to foelist him because the mods didn't handle things like that in gamechat, and because I reported it and he had mods on his side I got a bit of further harassment out of the bargain) I might just happen to read it anyway, just as I'm reading this comment, without clicking something to make his post legible.Woodruff wrote:I believe that's correct. i dont think they will do that...stahrgazer wrote: I'm only still occasionally peeking in and commenting on threads about the very issue I left for, because for three months I've been bugging admin to take my pre-paid year off my account and turn it into premium prizes for the tournament I sponsored, and so far they still haven't done it.
The sooner they do, the sooner I'll be totally gone, so whoever's got pull with admin on this site, pass it on please.

That does seem like bad business though, if they won't. Why not enhance someone's experience rather than have the premium wasted, when it doesn't have to be?hwhrhett wrote:i dont think they will do that...stahrgazer wrote: I'm only still occasionally peeking in and commenting on threads about the very issue I left for, because for three months I've been bugging admin to take my pre-paid year off my account and turn it into premium prizes for the tournament I sponsored, and so far they still haven't done it.

Yup; besides, I'm essentially a dissatisfied customer who wants a refund for a pre-purchased service that hadn't started yet.Woodruff wrote:That does seem like bad business though, if they won't.
