Well...they did once anyway. I guess they get credit for actually being in a close game there. Speaking of which...what DID happen against that same Texas team when Wyoming played them?

1st half, both teams were neck and neck, with Wyoming even holding the lead (for a little over a minute, admittedly, but a lead nonetheless) for a short time. Colt McCoy even threw a pass directly to one of the Cowboys defenders. Also, I think it was Ghaali Muhammed of the Pokes that blocked a punt then ran the ball in for a touchdown against Texas, giving us the lead. But, I think some of the Pokes were having flashbacks of last year and all of a sudden in the second half, they couldn't do much. But the Pokes sure as hell scared a lot of Texas fans at the War Memorial Stadium here.

Texas offense didnt show up, and McCoy did throw a pick, but it was tipped off of his receivers hands into a Cowboy defender.
Late in the 2nd quarter Wyoming blocked a punt in which they recovered for their only TD of the whole game. The 2nd play after that ensuing kickoff McCoy threw a 50 yrd plus burner to Shipley to regain the lead and go into half.. After that it went all downhill for Wyoming. Wyoming held the lead for probably under 20 seconds, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say half a minute.

Believe me Texas fans werent scared.

McCoyactually did throw right to a Poke, and it was commented on, as I watched it really clearly on a 62 inch screen. The guy was off for about the entire first half. And the lead that Texas gained at the end of the half was by 3 points in a last ditch effort to get ahead. And the cameras showed close-ups of a Texas fan base that was morbidly silent or had looks of shock and dismay throughout most of the 1st half. And a touchdown, is a touchdown, no matter how you spin it.
Texas fans shouldn't feel too bad about it, as we did tie TCU early in the game as well. Then they gained the momentum back with a return TD.

Gotcha. But you'll find the same thing among nearly all the Cowboy fans. And next season, we get to play at Texas, have BSU in Laramie, play TCU in Texas, BYU in Provo, and Utah in Laramie. The Cowboys have their work cut out for them next season, that is for sure. 5 nationally ranked teams, and AFA has a great Defense (though seems to be lacking on the pass D though, but gave TCU a run for their money).

I cant remember the int McCoy had, I thought it was one that was given to the boys via a tipped ball, but to say that it was a close enough game for a Texas fan to worry I think is over doing it.

Our offense came out of the gate sluggish but McCoy still ended the half with 17 of 29 for 166 yards, 1 TD and 1 Int. (Thats at the half mind you) And our defense through the whole game never let up. Allowing only 3 for 17 on 3rd down conversions, no offensive TD's , 1 FG, 85 yards rushing and 188 yards passing with 1 fumble recovery. Tell me if you would be worried.

I would gladly give credit and say Wyoming did a hell of a job in the 1st half, but to say it was all them and that the Cowboys were that capable as thaiguy is saying is I think a lil unrealistic. But I give it to you thaiguy, your a die hard fan. I just think you gotta add the fact that Texas did not show up in the 1st half, until the blocked punt.

not exactly nail biters.

The Air Force Academy fields good teams and this year's 7-5 version may be better than most.
Their next game is against Houston (10-3) New Years Eve in the Blue Ribbon Bowl.
With the exception of #14 BYU (38-21)all their loses have been close...

Yes, I know. I was just pointing out the half. And that Texas really did come back and kick our butts in the second half. I'm not denying that. All I was saying was at the half, there weren't very many confident Texas fans in the stands at the War and as the announcers put it "Wyoming fans foaming at the mouth." It did change shortly after the 3rd quarter began, and that the first half maybe a future sign for Wyoming.
And yes Air Force is good, but once a team figured out what to do against their rush defense and started passing a lot, well, look at the AFA-BYU game. And Air Force didn't score against UW until the second half of the game. Considering they have a very good rushing game, and though technically a blowout, it was a battle between defenses. And the last few years under Joe Glenn (good guy, bad HC), we really haven't had good recruiting classes. So a "bend don't break" attitude was installed. However, it was still a good exciting first half. I don't care for blowouts as they make games boring to watch. And final results be damned, if the Cowboys come out and play a good hard game and don't roll over (sadly, like they did against BYU and CU) then most Poke fans will say it was a success compared to last year. And we pretty much knew the outcome against TCU would be similar, so we only had our starters in there for about half the game or so, then it was subs, as we had a must win against CSU the following and couldn't afford any losses to our starting line up.

As far as SEC matchups go, I get the feeling Auburn, Mississippi, South Carolina and Arkansas have the best pairings, but in truth anything is possible. I like to think these are some good teams and should lead to some good games. Penn State is consistent on both sides of the ball and should be a tough game for the Tigers.

ECU handled Houston in the C-USA title game and it will be interesting to see if they can do the same with Mallet and the Razorbacks. Last year they faced Kentucky and had them on the ropes until a fumble at midfield was returned for a TD to give the Wildcats the lead late in the game.

Out of all the SEC teams that are not named LSU, Florida or Alabama, Ole Miss is probably the next best team and if they play like they hve the potential to I cn't see Ok State winning. Beyond that Arkansas is much better than their record suggests and I feel tht as long as their defense shows up they'll handle ECU.

I agree Mississippi is a great team and a months rest should be huge for them, Oklahoma State was shut out in their final game against rival Oklahoma. If ECU's defense can defy the odds once more and slow down Mallet that will be a good game. Cincy's got speed and if the coaching thing isn't too much of a distraction and their defense plays like they did in the second half against Pitt, Florida will have their hands full.

The MWC is now 2-0 in Bowl games with BYU dominating OSU at the Vegas Bowl. Like 44-20 I believe the score was. 2 bowls down, 3 to go. Utah in the Poinsettia Bowl (technically today I suppose, due to the time) (also the team with the longest Bowl winning streak in the nation, if I remember correctly), AFA at the Armed Forces Bowl (again, facing Houston), and last but most certainly not least, TCU at the Fiesta Bowl (making it a rematch from last year's Poinsettia Bowl in which TCU beat BSU 17-16).

BYU really looked good last night (and Oregon State really looked bad). Of the three you listed, I sadly think AFA is the one that will lose. Houston's a very good team, and I don't think they're up for it. I actually don't believe the Utah or TCU games will be worrisome (though not big blowouts).
