When the first Atom bomb test was complete a colleague of Oppenheimer said: "What an Awesome and Foul display of Power." a moment later he added, "Now we are all sons of bitches"

Absolutely. I'm very curious about the two who were arrested, and what they might or might not have been involved in.
Sadly, there will be some who will make this out to be a Muslim thing (which I'm pretty sure it is not), rather than the PTSD thing it almost certainly is.
...I prefer a man who will burn the flag and then wrap himself in the Constitution to a man who will burn the Constitution and then wrap himself in the flag.
Ok eyewitness claim 4 gunman seems to be the general Idea. One was killed he was a major I forget His name. 2 were arrested. One relased. Possibly one more somewhere

He has a muslim name, but was an army psychiatrist from Walter Reed. So no PTSD, Woodruff. Unless maybe he was so disturbed by what he heard for the last six years. Just a tragedy.
nothing wrong with a little bit of man on dog love.

According the reports I've heard, he had just recently returned from Iraq. No telling if they were accurate or not, of course, given the short time it had been since it happened.

Actually I was just reading about and they said he was just about to be deployed to Iraq.
Hasan's cousin Nader Hasan said that she believed it was his upcoming deployment combined with the wartime horror stories he heard from his patients that set him off. Hasan had recently hired an attorney to help him get out of the military.
According to the suspect's cousin, Hasan was also harassed after 9/11 because of his ethnicity, and was called a "camel jockey."
Just a very sad story.
Also I just read an update and it said the suspect "is not dead as previously reported and the 2 others apprehended have been released."

' You hear a story like this and your initial reaction is "this can't be a Muslim thing, don't call it a Muslim thing."? Personally my mind doesn't jump to a conclusion one way or the other before I have the facts.
Your initial reaction is actually quite telling...
P.S. According to those who knew him, it sounds like it was probably a Muslim thing..Click

Shepard Smith said something about how all the personnel on the base would be armed because we are at war. No fact-checking on the media's part. Only MP's and those on guard are usually loaded. They usually won't even issue ammo for practice until they are actually at the range.
And a some congressman or representative from the area said he was told that they heard small-arms fir and rifle fire. Rifles ARE small arms. CNN was just as bad. Ignorant civilians say funny things about the military when they forget to consider how much they actually know.
Everybody going "OMG what a surprise!" Well, what did ya expect? Military bases are pretty obvious targets. I was waiting for this to happen 5 years ago. At least nobody has figured out a way to set off some of the munitions stockpiled at Fort Sill (Oklahoma). That would have been ugly.

Yes, it might well have been "a Muslim thing"
The Washington Post wrote:In an interview, his aunt, Noel Hasan of Falls Church, said he had endured name-calling and harassment about his Muslim faith for years after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and had sought for several years to be discharged from the military.
"I know what that is like," she said. "Some people can take it, and some cannot. He had listened to all of that, and he wanted out of the military, and they would not let him leave even after he offered to repay" for his medical training.

That was fast. In less than a day he's already the victim and the army is evil..
How come you didn't post the link to the article, there's a lot of good stuff there..
The Associated Press reported that Hasan attracted the attention of law enforcement authorities in recent months after an Internet posting under the screen name "NidalHasan" compared Islamic suicide bombers to Japanese kamikaze pilots. "To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate," the posting read. "It's more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause."
The psychiatrist once said that "Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor" and that the United States shouldn't be fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the first place, according to an interview with Col. Terry Lee, a co-worker, on Fox News.
I wonder if this is the type of thing he was 'harassed' over. Frankly it sounds like somebody should have seen this coming.

Sad story. Sadly it will be spinned. Probably a combination of PSTD and some Muslim terrorist rhetoric, though I think the emphasis will be placed on PSTD (which is understandable). Maybe PSTD led to this killer becoming enthralled with Muslim terrorist rhetoric? I don't know.
In any event, I'm uncertain why it's a bad thing for people to label this the act of a Mulsim extremist (if that is, in fact, what it is). I believe we (Americans) are so conditioned to blame others that we will ignore the reality of the situation. I truly hope that does not happen here. It's not the military's fault, it's not Islam's fault, it's this dude's fault. Let's all please keep that in mind.
These wars has come home. It is time to resolve the Palestinian and Israeli conflict which lies at the heart of all this. We have lost enough American blood, treasure, and spirit. Obama needs to get a spine and tell the Israelis that we have had enough, and it is time for peace.

I don't believe this puke has ever deployed, thus PTSD isn't a factor. And, unfortunately, I think he is still alive.
He isn't the first soldier to kill his own in this country during these wars. He will not be the last. The murders, suicides and domestic violence are at all time highs. We need to end these unjust and untenable wars and get to the business of healing our military and finding peace.

PTSD is not the sole preserve of a soldier in a warzone. Anyone can suffer from it.
And is anyone really surprised this has happened? Considering the way Muslims are treated, not just in the US but all over the westen world, the only surprise is that it hasnt happened sooner.
