Making You Think: Doubles Edition [Winners: 1st post]

Welcome to Making You Think, Doubles Edition.

This tournament will be comprised of single elimination doubles games on some various complex maps.

I would like to get a minimum of 32 teams for this tournament, but extras will be accepted.

Format

-4 player doubles games.
-Seeding system used.
-Play-in games if more than 40 and less than 64 want to join
-Rounds 1 through the quarter finals will be best of 3 game sets
-Semi-finals will be played best of 5 game sets
-Finals will be played best of 7 game sets
-Premium not required but recommended 3 slots must be kept open ready for the games.
-48 hour rule for joining games will be in effect
-For nonpremium members, semi-finals and finals will be broken into 2 sets of games.
-Teams are allowed to make one substitution during the tournament. Any subsequent substitutions will be at my discretion in the case of a serious incident. Otherwise they will forfeit.

Signing up

All that is required for signing up in this tournament is that you place the names of you and your partner and then the combined score of the two of you upon the time of signing up. I ask that you please have your partner confirm your entry into the tournament. While it is not required to be premium it is recommended.

Game settings

To really work your mind the only settings that will be held constant throughout the tournament are play order being sequential and casual.
Cards: No cards, Flat rate, Escalating

Round 1

Round 1
Some intense matches from the 1st round of play. A lot of upsets struck the field.

First we saw the 5 seed fall to the 28 seed by a 2-1 margin and then following up the 7 seed fell to the 26 seed by another 2-1 margin.

Going into round two there are some big matches to watch. The biggest of them all will be between 8 seed with a 3-0 record and 9 seed with a 3-0 record. With both teams so closely seeded and each having flawless records, this will be quite the battle.

The winner of this match will play the winner of 1 seed(0-0) and 17 seed(2-1). Most would place their money on the 1 seed to win that one easily, but we have seen some upsets already.

Round 2

Round 2
The top 3 seeded teams all advanced on to the next round. The 3 seed almost saw some bad dice take them out as they lost one game before they could even get started. They managed to win one game with killer strategy and then it all came down to the final game. The last game of the series was on 8 Thoughts and it was a complete tug-of-war. Teams 3 and 19 continued to go back and forth. Eventually the game ended with 3 being victorious after 17 hard fought rounds.

The only team to remain undefeated after 2 rounds of play is our 6 seed. The won a 3-0 sweep back in round 1 and in round 2 they received a forfeit. They are currently playing a tough battle with the 3 seed looking down in one ahead in another and about even in the final. One of the top 8 seeds will fall in this match. Will it be an upset with 6 walking away with the victory or will 3 pull another one out? Only time will tell.

The biggest upset of the last round was 28 seed taking out the 12 seed. They have managed to take out two higher ranked opponents now but just how long will that last. This round they're up against the (5-1) 4 seed. They're looking to extend their record to at least 7-2 but they'd much prefer an 8-1 record going into the Semi-Finals. Through the fog it appears that 28 has a huge lead over 4 in one of their games and the other two are too hard to tell. We'll just have to wait them out.

One of the most exciting matches of the round was the battle between 8 and 9 seed who were both undefeated going into it. 9 seed prevailed in the end by a 2-1 margin. The now (5-1) 9 seed is playing (2-1) 1 seed to decide who advances to the Semi-Finals. The 1 seed made a quick statement finishing their first game with a win in only 6 rounds. They lead the series 1-0 but the other two games could still go either way. It will certainly be a close one.

Quarter-Finals
The quarter-finals finished excitingly with 1 easily advancing over 9 by a 2-1 margin. 1 managed to take a quick win in the first game and then followed up with another one in the second. Their overall record is currently 4-2

Next we have the crazy upset of team 28 winning over team 4. 28 managed to pull of a 2-1 victory over the 4th seeded team which isn't an easy accomplishment. They now have to face the 1 seed in a best of 5 series. It should turn out to be a good match.

After that we have what turned out to be the longest and most exciting match of the quarter-finals. In an intense match between the 6 seed and the 3 seed that when on for 13 rounds and had card values in the 50s before it was able to finish. In the end one of the players from 6 got a quick 3 card set and managed to take out a player from 3 and finish the game. It was a hard fought match that could have turned either way.

Finally was the match up between 10 and 2. In the end 10 managed to pull off a 2-1 win over team 2 and will advance to the semi-finals to face 6 in a 5 game series. After the hard fought match with 3, 6 looks ready to go in this and advance to the finals. It's too tough to call it right now though.
