Russia?

Post by PaperPlunger »

How would you all feel about a russia map? I have a quick image from google that's been edited in photoshop a good amount, but countries are small, and it needs continents etc.

NOTE: NEEDS TONS OF WORK!!! Only a quick edit etc, too see if you people would play it :D.

Eventually It qwill get smaller... duh, but for now it's fine.

I like the idea of a map... modeled on the Russian Revolution/Civil War

Long ago a less exeperienced player attempted to create such a map, but I think eventually lost interest in it. I think with work it could be made fun and playable. Obvious starting points would be seeing what countries you would want to include. Territories toward the east are large, so they could easily be cut down (preferably into actual named areas rather than "North This" and "West That"). And with the territories in the west the most commonly known could take over a given area so as not to have a large imbalance in country ratio for the various parts of the map.

would anyone mind if the only size change I make will be cropping the bottom? Decreasing the size will cause a big problem even with eastern countries combined

It would bring us closer to a mpa of every continent! After this all we need is S. America and Australia... Wasn't someone making an Australia map that was looking pretty good? What happened to that?

As it stands...it wouldn't be any different than the Greece map is from the Europe map. It's simply a more refined look at an area, so it will most likely be different if it ever goes into production.

If it's gonna be Russian then make the names in Russian. I ain't playin on no Aмериканский map of Pоссия.

Kidding of course, but it might add a nice touch to it.

OK.... just a thought .... and do with it as you like.....

I'm not real familiar with the current geography of Russia atm...

would it be easier if you found a map of the Cold war USSR?

I believe things were more combined and the areas larger.... it might make things easier on you. :)

Hear, hear! :D My very limited skills in Russian are indeed that, very limited, but the translittered (?) writing gets me even more tongue-tied than the cyrillic writing. :P

Edit: the reply was, of course, to the choice of alphabet...

i wish i had seen that before i started editing more... hehe, BUT! that will help with some continenets, which i don't know what to do with....I had a thought that all those places with AOk in them (which means americans overseas for kerry edwards ) would be a mixed continent with a certain bonus if you hold them all. other than that, the other two conti's i thought of were east and west russia... hehehe

Consider this a vote for a CCCP version - Russia's very wide and short North-South for a lot of it, so the central asian republics would give it a nicer map shape, imo.

Plus, I want to see Alexander Perezhogin's house.

Writing it with the Russian alphabet. Like this:
я живу в москва (I live in Moscow).
