For my first hosted tourney, I am looking for 32 individual people (and 4 reserves). When signing up, please list your preferred maps/settings. It will consist of the following rounds:
The first round is singles, non-elimination used for seeding purposes, 4 games of 8 players. Second through fifth round will all be elimination rounds.
The second round is quads (4v4). Teams are decided based on what position they finished. (All first place finishers will be put on a team, etc, etc.). Normal bracket seeding will occur (1st place vs 8th place; 2nd v 7th; etc).
Winners from second round will move on to the third round which will be doubles (2v2) with each quads team randomly split into two teams. Again matchups will be based on seeding from 1st round.
The fourth round brings us back to randomized singles matchups, however this time it will be two games of 4 players (1v1v1v1) with no doubles teammates placed into the same game. The first two people eliminated in each game will be knocked out of the tournament.
The fifth round will be a doubles (2v2) match. The four players who advanced from round four will be split into two teams based on how they finished in round 4 (1st placers vs 2nd placers). The winning team in round 5 will be crowned champions.
All maps & settings will be randomly chosen from those listed (it will be weighted based on settings listed). If 27 people choose "Foggy" and 5 choose "sunny", there is a 27 out of 32 chance of each game being setup as foggy. It doesn't matter which participants play in the individual game, it is based on all 32 that signed up. If people that sign up do not list a setting or settings, they will just not be counted in the weighting. Maybe it will be 16 for "foggy" and 10 for "sunny" (6 people not listing a preference). To make things easier for randomizing purposes, only non-reserves preference will be used in randomizing the setup of the first round, though this will be revisited if there are deadbeats.
Members will be given 48 hours to join their games or the will be replaced by a reserve.
Note- 7/29 - All games will be Automatic, Sequential, Casual turns. All singles games will be standard.
