Quotes

Post by rocky8179 »

I noticed a thread about movie quotes and thought I would extend that to include all quotes. I like to collect good quotes from famous (and anonymous) people and was just wondering if anyone had any good quotes out there that they would like to share. When sharing a quote plz let us know who said it. If its your own quote than say that.

"When the shit hits the fan all you can do is duck"
-rocky8179, 2007

There, that is my quote that I came up with on the spot. If I'm wrong (and you think I didn't start that quote) plz let me know who said it before me and if not than have fun posting good quotes. Quotes from anywhere are welcome (books, movies, famous people, dead people, anonymous people etc) especially if that particular quote has any kind of special meaning or insight that you would like to share with others. So, without further ado, begin to quote!!
Adrian: Einstein flunked out of school, twice.
Paulie: Is that so?
Adrian: Yeah. Beethoven was deaf. Helen Keller was blind. I think Rocky's got a good chance.

Your quote is nonsensical.

Newton lived a long time before Origin of Species was published, for a start.

Please: how does your thumb prove the existence of god?

The idea that Newton is there is enough proof for him to believe in God. He could see no reason not to believe in him that was better than the idea of a creator God

And I like "Women, know your place." I love the fast show so much!

My top three favorite quotes:

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.
-Galileo Galilei

A witty saying proves nothing.
-Voltaire

Ignorantque datos, ne quisquam serviat, enses. (And they are ignorant that the purpose of the sword is to save every man from slavery.)
-Lucanus

I don't want to start a religious debate, but that doesn't prove a thing. That's about as valid as saying "I have an appendix, and I don't use it. Therefore, god doesn't exist".

My favorite two quotations:

"Many people think I must be a horrible person, but that's not true. I have the heart of a young boy- it's in a jar on my desk." Stephen King

"May god have mercy on you, for I certainly shall not." Unknown

This one is often attributed to Attila the Hun, although the validity of this assertion is not clear.

-Bill Hicks:See I think, drugs have some done good things for us. I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us. Do me a favor, go home tonight, take all your albums, all your tapes, and all your CDs, and burn them. 'Cause you know what? The musicians who made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years? Reeeeeeeal fucking high on drugs.-
