Windows 7 log-in problems

Post by Yeoha »

I have asked this in some online tech-support forums, but I figured that I may as well ask it here.

For some reason, I am unable to log in on my windows 7 computer by typing in my password anymore - it keeps telling me that my username or password is incorrect. I have not changed my password in a long time; I have not forgotten it.

Fortunately, I have an alternate way of logging in. When I get into the account, I go to the control panel to change my password. The first step is to type in my current password. I type in what I think it should be, and it redirects me back to the previous page of the window when I click "change password"

However, if I type in some random characters for the current password, I get the message of "your current password is incorrect"

Does anyone have any idea as to why it accepts my password while I am logged in but not at the log-in screen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've encountered the same problem but after a couple tries it always logs me in.

Maybe it is an 'account issue' --- is there a difference between the Administrator account and any other you may have?

CAPS LOCK? Maybe, or a capital letter your forgetting in username or password?

Thanks for all the replies - the problem is now solved.

Actually, the cause was a strange language setting for my keyboard. While in the log in screen, the default was set to Russian, yet elsewhere it was set on English. So when I tried to log in, my password would be entered in a completely different alphabet.

So other countries are the problem once again? I think there's a lesson to be learned here.
