I found out about a couple of good documentaries thanks to Serious Interwebz Business and I would like to find out more. Which documentaries have you liked a lot?
The century of the self is one series that I learned about here and that I recommend much. The Money Masters I recommended and I b.k. and Hapsmo19 I believe watched it.
I also recommend The Trap and The Power of Nightmares, both by Adam Curtis (the guy who made Century of the Self). An interwebzer with no respect for copyright law might search torrentz.com for the adam curtis collection.
Also: Capturing the Friedmans - incredible doc about a new york family whose father and eldest son were accused of child molestation.
And anything by Errol Morris - the Thin Blue Line is incredible - got a man freed from death row.
I like a lot of biographical and music documentaries among others.

Also, ESPN's 30 for 30 docs are really good if you're into sports. They're on Netflix and I'm pretty sure there's going to be a new season of them soon so I'm pumped.
Also also, Jesus Camp was fucking amazing. Horrifying that they would subject little kids to that shit but entertaining nonetheless.

to Netflix? yes. 10 bucks a month. You can probably find the documentaries for free if you look hard enough

Hold on guys, I've got this.
If you have an XBOX and an Internet connection, Netflix will cost you $8 a month. OR your big mart-stores have recently started selling these boxes that are used just to stream movies. On the cheap end they are like $30 and you can find them with the DVD players. Wal*Mart and Shop*Ko both have them. You can stream Netflix on them, or Hulu is free, Crackle.... ect.
You can also just search for them on Youtube. There are a lot of full-length movies on youtube.
Also, subscribe to VICE on youtube. They post mini-documentary's about all kinds of cool stuff.

Good stuff available for free at the public library. Tends to be older, but if you're like me and don't worship at the alter of newness there's a goldmine there.

I gotta give it to them: they're very effective at influencing thought while providing seemingly sufficient evidence. The "great" documentaries excel in exploiting the cognitive bias of the viewer. When you mix words with vision, and if the viewer is none to savvy about logical fallacies, the documentary can be a stunning work of art.

If you can pick up Into Eternity about how we're going to deal with nuclear waste storage- "This film explores the question of preparing the site so that it is not disturbed for 100,000 years, even though no structure in human history has stayed standing for such a long period of time."

LOL..in big cities, but not rust belt PA. A good suggestion, though, for a lot of people.
